Jordan Montgomery boldly states that his agent Scott Borasbutchered” his chances to sign a deal earlier during the free agency last winter. He revealed having a positive conversation with the Boston Red Sox, but their deal did not move forward as the player signed up with the Arizona Diamondbacks, nearly at the end of the free agency.

Signing earlier during free agency gives a lot of mobility to the player, the team involved, and his agent to surf through potential deals and sign with a team that is worthy of the contract. However, these chances get slimmer the more the free agency goes on without the player getting a good deal.

Unfortunately, that was the case with Scott Boras’ four clients including Blake Snell, Jordan Montgomery, Cody Bellinger, and Matt Chapman. Montgomery was one of the sort-out pitchers in free agency last winter, but he joined the Diamondbacks late into the Spring Training. It undoubtedly hurt his overall performance and a visible gap could be seen between the last two years and the current one.

I had a Zoom call with (the Red Sox), that’s really all I know. It went good. I don’t know, obviously Boras kind of butchered it, so I’m just trying to move on from the offseason and try to forget it.

However, Blake Snell supporting Boras commented how the fault also lies with him and not solely on the agent. He stated, that Montgomery had the “choice” to sign up with any team he wanted and he went to the one best suited for him.

However, according to his experience, Boras was quite open with the team offers and both were equally involved in the whole process. He admitted that “it sucks” to lose the deals last year, but it is what it is.

It’s just sad that he thinks that way when I see Scott as a very honorable man…You can’t get upset about the way it is. Just pitch better, find a way to do better, continue to compete. Whatever you believe you deserve, you go earn it.

While Montgomery noted that he’s “try to forget it” and move on, Snell expresses he did not have any negative experience under Boras. Scott Boras is undoubtedly, one of the top agents in the MLB world, and he has to date signed any players to their dream teams.

What impact will Scott Boras have on Juan Soto’s free agency?

While the question itself is very controversial, Scott Boras, without a doubt remains a top agent in the field. He has made million-dollar contract signs with players and has continued to dominate the field.

Apart from the four aforementioned players, he is also linked with New York Yankees star player Juan Soto and even former-pinstripes Alex Rodriguez. Soto has been warned by insider Chris ‘Mad Dog’ Russo over Boras’ personality which is well known to attract high dollar contracts.

In his recent show, he boldly stated that Boras might even demand $600 million during Soto’s free agency. He advised the 4x All-Star to remain vigilant and see the whole picture rather than sign with a team that offers the dollars.

Soto’s got to be careful because, you know, Boris has taken a lot of players to the wrong locations. A-Rod is a perfect example. So, he’s got to be a little careful of taking him to the Kansas City Royals because they offered him the most money.

During A-Rod’s time with Boras, the former Yanks said he was forced to sign a deal with the Rangers rather than the Mets where he wanted to go, since the former offered high contract prize. Rodriguez and Boras parted ways in sour taste and still had enough sourness left behind. A-Rod even went silent when he came to know Boras would be presenting Soto.
