In one of the biggest offseason moves, the Los Angeles Dodgers picked up 2-time Cy Young Award winner Blake Snell on a 5-year $182 million deal. This came after Snell optioned out of his two-year deal with the San Francisco Giants and became a free agent once again. A fan on social media did not seem pleased with this move and tried to attack him, leading to retaliation from the Dodgers star.
Snell had an amazing 2023 campaign with the San Diego Padres and was later named as the Cy Young Award winner. After the conclusion of the 2023 season, he became a free agent and started exploring other options.
In January 2024, Snell finally found his new club. He would join the Giants on a two-year $62 million deal. Following a slow start to the season, the pitcher started showing off his Cy Young Award-winning form in the latter half of the campaign.
After the season ended, he opted out of his deal and left the Giants. Unlike last year, Snell did not have to wait long as the Dodgers came in early and roped him in. This led to several Giants fan being upset by Snell as he joined their rivals after spending a year with them.
One such fan would have a hate message for him on Instagram. The fan claimed that the 32-year-old pitcher chose money over greatness with his move to Southern California. Blake Snell did not let this slide and clapped back at him. The Dodgers star urged the fan to be upset with his team and commented “Go dodgers” with a blue heart emoji.
Go Dodgers. Be upset with your team. Don’t hate when you don’t know anything other than where I signed.

In his introductory press conference, Snell expressed excitement about joining the Dodgers and claimed that the decision to join them was simple. He pointed out that his fiancee Haeley Ryane wanted to live here and how he got inspired by what the Dodgers were doing.
Dodgers coach Dave Roberts points out what edge Blake Snell brings to the team
After winning the World Series in 2024, the Los Angeles Dodgers have gone on to strengthen their team even further. The addition of Blake Snell to an already star-studded roster has left the fans excited for the 2025 campaign. Coach Dave Roberts recently spoke about his signing and pointed out what he brings to the team.

Speaking at the Dodgers Territory Podcast, Roberts pointed out Snell’s achievements. The 52-year-old claimed that the other players of the team could follow his hard work ethic.
He’s a guy that’s won the ultimate pitching award, the Cy Young (twice). He has pitched in the biggest ball games and has performed. From what I’ve heard, his work ethic is top notch. I think that other guys on our team can certainly follow… The thing that I really love is not only the talent, but it’s a guy that hasn’t won a championship. It’s hard to quantify hunger, and this guy wants it really bad. That’s why he chose to sign with the Dodgers.
Dave Roberts said
Snell joins a pitching rotation which includes stars like Tyler Glasnow and Yoshinobu Yamamoto. Dustin May and Tony Gonsolin are both expected to be back in the rotation as well following injuries. On top of that, two-way phenom, Shohei Ohtani is also reported to be pitching in 2025. This could make the Dodgers one of the toughest teams to go against.
