The Las Vegas Raiders are one of the most struggling teams in the league. They have their chunk of quarterback problems, jumbling between three options last season trying to make it work. Nevertheless, an experienced quarterback and a catcher aren’t enough for them to part with their favorite and one of the most dangerous defensive ends in history.
Although the Raiders ended up receiving Geno Smith in a trade for a third-round pick, there was a previous deal on the table. According to Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer, the Seattle Seahawks initiated trade discussions by proposing a deal involving quarterback Geno Smith and wide receiver DK Metcalf in exchange for Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby.
However, the idea was swiftly rejected.
The Seahawks opened trade discussions with the Raiders with this blockbuster proposal—Geno Smith and DK Metcalf to Vegas for Maxx Crosby. Vegas QUICKLY shot that down, and told Seattle that Crosby was not available.

But talks continued, and led to Geno becoming a Raider.
NFL Network’s National Chief Reporter Steve Wyche emphasized that the Las Vegas Raiders were firmly committed to acquiring a quarterback this offseason. Wyche referenced a conversation with Raiders owner Mark Davis, who made the team’s intentions clear.
Wyche also credited former NFL star and Raiders minority owner Tom Brady for playing a role in influencing the team’s aggressive pursuit of a quarterback. According to Wyche, Brady’s presence within the organization has likely contributed to the team’s push to solidify the position, as the Raiders look to find a long-term solution under center.
The Raiders will rejoice that the trade didn’t come with giving up a major player like Crosby while solidifying a veteran quarterback.
Seahawks entertain trade offers for DK Metcalf amidst wide receiver shake-up
The Seattle Seahawks are actively exploring trade options for star wide receiver DK Metcalf, according to general manager John Schneider. Speaking during his weekly segment on The John Schneider Show on Seattle Sports 710AM, Schneider confirmed that several teams have shown strong interest in acquiring Metcalf.

Everything is in a very cordial, professional place. DK has requested a trade, and we are entertaining that. We’re in talks with a ton of teams, taking offers, and evaluating what that looks like moving forward.
John Schneider stated
A league source also informed UPI on Thursday that Metcalf officially submitted his trade request. The 27-year-old wide receiver has been with the franchise since being selected in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft.
Metcalf earned two Pro Bowl selections during his tenure in Seattle and signed a three-year, $72 million contract extension in 2022, which he later restructured in the offseason. His request to leave the Seahawks coincided with the team’s decision to release veteran wide receiver Tyler Lockett, signaling a major transition in Seattle’s receiving corps.
With the potential departure of Metcalf and the release of Lockett, the Seahawks are now expected to rely heavily on young receivers Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Jake Bobo to lead the passing attack. While Schneider did not provide a specific timeline for a trade, he emphasized that the team is considering all possibilities to ensure the best outcome for both Metcalf and the franchise.
