The Los Angeles Dodgers kept their season alive on Friday with a 3-1 win in Game 6. The Toronto Blue Jays had the chance of walking it off but a series of wild play in the bottom of the 9th inning saw them suffer defeat.

The Dodgers entered the game on Friday knowing that a loss would bring an end to their campaign and hand the World Series crown to their opponents. After two scoreless innings, the visitors broke open the game in the 3rd inning.

With runners on 1st and 2nd base, catcher Will Smith hit a double down the left field line. Tommy Edman would come from 2nd to score and put the Dodgers 1-0 up.

Mookie Betts then came up clutch. The 8-time MLB All-Star, who has been struggling for form in the World Series, hit a single to left field with the bases loaded. This saw Shohei Ohtani and Will Smith coming home and making it a 3-0 game.

The Blue Jays did pull one run back in the bottom of this frame. George Springer, who missed Game 5 through an injury, drove in a run with a single to center field, allowing Addison Barger to score from third.

It was the bottom of the 9th inning where drama unfolded. Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who had thrown 2 successive complete games, was unable to go the distance again this time. The Japanese pitcher was taken off the mound after 6 innings and was replaced by Justin Wrobleski.

The southpaw threw a scoreless 7th inning and was then replaced by Roki Sasaki. He would give up a single to Springer and then walk Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to put 2 runners on base. However, he was able to close out the inning and escape the jam.

The young pitcher found himself in trouble again in the bottom of the 9th inning. He would first hit Alejandro Kirk with the pitch to put the tying run on base.

Barger would then connect on a fastball that would get stuck at the center field wall. Substitute fielder Justin Dean would put his hands up immediately and call for a dead ball. Myles Straw, who was the pinch runner for Kirk, had raced all the way to home.

The umpires would stand by their decision after a review and instead call it a ground-rule double and bring Straw back to 3rd while Barger was positioned on 2nd base.

Dave Roberts would then take the pitch off Sasaki and throw in starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow. The 32-year-old took to the mound with 2 runners on base and nobody out.

He would pick up the first out in the form of Ernie Clement on the very first pitch. Clement ended up popping the ball to Freddie Freeman. Andres Gimenez then came up to bat.

After taking the first pitch, the No. 9 hitter ended up hitting the ball to Enrique Hernandez in left field. The outfielder would rush towards the ball to complete the catch and throw it to Miguel Rojas at 2nd base. Barger was caught off the bag, resulting in a game-ending double play.

The Blue Jays had the golden opportunity to walk off the game in the final inning with 2 runners on base and nobody out. However, in just 3 pitches they blew their chance which forced a Game 7.
