The Denver Broncos mean business and so does rookie quarterback Bo Nix. The team barely made it into the playoffs but earned their spot and in the initial moments of the Wild Card game against Buffalo, Denver’s offense made a hot statement in the cold weather at Highmark Stadium.
With just 2 minutes into the game, the Broncos offense got off to a roaring start as the team put up the first points of the night. On a 2nd and 4 play inside Bills territory, Bo Nix quickly found his former Oregon teammate Troy Franklin in the endzone on a vertical play.
The 43-yard touchdown marked the first playoff touchdown for both Nix and Franklin. Surprisingly, the two players who played together in college did not have great chemistry on the field in the NFL. The wideout has just two touchdowns with Nix in the regular season this year.

Bo Nix and Troy Franklin made NFL history with their score
The touchdown throw from one rookie to another is historic because it has never been done in the playoffs. For Nix, it marks a feat that has not been accomplished since 2012. He is only the second rookie quarterback to successfully throw a touchdown pass in the first drive of a playoff game.
Nix was able to get the ball out of his hands just in time as pass rusher Dawuane Smoot was ras just a second away from laying him out on the field. The quarterback did not hesitate and threw a great pass. The Broncos are off to a good start but the question remains if the team can keep this momentum going.
A lot of history is being made for the Denver Broncos. For the rookie quarterback, the pressure and attention has been on him since the start of the season and he has lived up to the hype. Bo Nix and Sean Payton have the chance to play spoilsport to Buffalo’s Super Bowl aspirations and they are embracing that role.
