Bo Nix faced the music at full time on Thursday night (November 6). The second-year quarterback was booed mercilessly by the fans despite leading the team to a win over divisional rivals, the Las Vegas Raiders.
Nix gave fans plenty of reasons to boo him. After leading the Broncos on a six-game winning streak, including wins against the Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys, and Houston Texans, expectations were high for an easy victory over the two-win Raiders.
When Ashton Jeanty put the Raiders ahead in the first half, the atmosphere at Mile High stayed calm. The wait paid off when Nix connected with his former Oregon teammate, Troy Franklin, in the Raiders’ end zone just two minutes before halftime.
The touchdown not only leveled the score on the night but also created history. NFL research discovered that Bo Nix passed the Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Baker Mayfield for the 5th-longest streak of games with a pass TD by a player in their first 2 seasons all-time (18).

Of course, when Mayfield set the record, he was with the Cleveland Browns. His Browns adventure ended after four years. Mayfield bounced around the rosters of the Carolina Panthers and the Los Angeles Rams before settling in Tampa Bay, winning back-to-back NFC South titles, and is in the driver’s seat for a third.
Bo Nix responded to Broncos fans booing him at full-time
Nix wasn’t facing Mayfield and won’t until both qualify for the Super Bowl. He stood before a Raiders defense that had been averaging 24.4 points in the previous nine weeks of football. And yet, the 25-year-old put up just 150 yards through the air and -2 yards on the ground for five carries while taking 1 sack.

To make matters worse, Nix threw two interceptions in the second half. Raiders cornerback Kyu Blu Kelly turned out to be Nix’s Achilles heel, picking him off on both occasions. Kicker Wil Lutz rescued the Broncos by dispatching a 32-yard field goal.
The game ended on 7-10 in favor of the Broncos, but Denver natives were pissed. They mercilessly booed Nix before and after the final whistle, even though the Broncos improved to 8-2.
Nix’s stat line looked bleak. He completed 57.1% of his attempted passes and had a passer rating of 54.2. Speaking with the media post-game, a nonchalant Nix claimed the boos didn’t affect him.
I’ve been booed before, and I’ll be booed again. [It’s] not going to be the last time. It’s obviously unfortunate. You don’t want your own fans booing you.

College football fans, particularly Auburn faithfuls, may vividly remember Nix becoming a thorn in their side in 2021, a year in which the Tigers finished 6-4 and missed the playoffs. Nix developed a thick skin as a result of that experience.
He proved the haters wrong in Oregon. As the Ducks quarterback, Nix went 22-5 in his final two years of college eligibility before the Broncos drafted him 12th overall in 2024.

Rookie year = Oregon Bo Nix
2nd year = Auburn Bo Nix
First year in Denver finished with a trip to the playoffs, and in his sophomore year, Nix has established himself as one of the best young quarterbacks in the league. Regardless, the Raiders’ result disappointed him in more ways than one.
I think you got to stay level-headed and understand it is the NFL and seven wins are hard to come by, so you’re doing something right. But at the same time, you’re also doing something wrong because there’s plenty left on the table, I think. Between penalties and just some sluggish football, we’re just not playing very good.

The Broncos had more penalties (11) than first downs in the game (10). In fact, it was the first game since 1976 when both teams combined conceded more penalties (22) than first downs (20). It only proves that the result could have gone either way. The Broncos just had the better luck on the day.
Nix took responsibility for the poor performance.
It starts with me. I got to be better, and the rest of the guys will follow along. We got to find some juice somewhere. We got to find something, especially against a good defense like that. There are plays to be had, we just got to find them.
After ten games, Nix has accumulated 213 completions for 2126 yards, 18 touchdowns, and 8 interceptions. Next week, he and the Broncos take on the 5-4 Kansas City Chiefs.
