Bo Nix Unfazed by Denver Fans’ Boos After Underwhelming Performance vs. Raiders

The Denver Broncos might have gotten away with a win on Thursday night (November 6) against the Las Vegas Raiders and extended their win streak to seven-game. But the fans know that the scorebug against the Raiders read 10-7, and they won’t be as fortunate as they were in Week 10 in all of their games and, most importantly, in the playoffs.
The brunt of the fans’ anger was directed towards Bo Nix, their quarterback. Nix could only complete 150 yards with a completion rate barely above the 50% mark while throwing for two interceptions and one touchdown. However, Nix is very unfazed about it.
Postgame, the anger was directed and channeled into loud boos from the fans, who were frustrated by how their team played and the lackluster game they had paid for. Many were expecting a blowout win that would have earned some much-needed rest for the starters in the fourth quarter. The Raiders are one of the weakest teams in the league, with the fourth-fewest points scored this season at 139.
In his post-game interview with the media, Nix was unsurprisingly asked about the boos, and his answer was quite straightforward.
I’ve been booed before, and I’ll be booed again. Not going to be the last time. It’s obviously unfortunate. You don’t want your own fans booing you, but it’s part of it.

Nix, despite his lower production and quieter offense on Thursday, is among the top ten quarterbacks in passing yards and touchdowns.
In ten starts, he has led the Broncos to an 8-2 record and a conference top seed position. He has thrown for 2,126 yards, seventh in the league. Nix also has 18 touchdowns in ten games, tied for the second-most with Los Angeles Chargers’ Justin Herbert. However, his yards per game are a mere 219.6, which is nowhere near the top ranks amongst the quarterbacks.
Colin Cowherd calls Bo Nix a regressing quarterback and hints at future replacements
In his rookie season, Bo Nix had produced promising numbers while challenging the Washington Commanders’ breakout Jayden Daniels for the Rookie of the Year award. He threw for 3,775 yards with 29 touchdowns and 12 interceptions in his rookie year and led the Broncos to their first playoff since 2015, when they won the Vince Lombardi Trophy.

However, the initial pictures from this year haven’t been ideal. The Denver Broncos have scored just 23.5 points per game, and four of their last seven wins saw them score 21 or fewer points. Amidst this, The Herd’s Colin Cowherd made a bold claim about Nix, one that’s a bit different from his initial take this season about the second-year quarterback.
Cowherd questioned the possibility of the Broncos’ head coach Sean Payton drafting a quarterback in the next draft. He admitted that Nix has regressed from his former self and projected Nix to throw more turnovers this year as compared to last year. It wasn’t long ago when Payton publicly put trust in Nix.
The offensive line is set, the defensive line is set, the receivers are set. Would Sean Payton draft another quarterback? I’m dead serious. Bo Nix has regressed badly. His completion percentage is toeing the backup quarterback line. He’s going to have more turnovers this year. He’s a significantly worse quarterback this year than last. I understand quarterback development is not linear.

Meanwhile, a former NFL MVP, Boomer Esiason said on his show that he believed Jaxson Dart to be better than Nix. Esiason noted that Dart has more poise and is throwing the pigskin better than Nix in the past games and added that Nix hasn’t become the quarterback everyone thought he would be.

The Denver Broncos’ stellar start under Nix would be a leading reason for the quarterback to be kept as the starting quarterback. With a crucial clash against the reigning division champs, the Kansas City Chiefs, coming up, Nix will need more than a 150-yard performance to stop the boos and silence the naysayers off-the-field.
