Bobby Lashley‘s future remains highly ambiguous since his departure from WWE earlier this year. He has stated in previous interviews that he has not limited himself to professional wrestling and may explore avenues such as acting, boxing, or even MMA. The 48-year-old recently broke his silence regarding his future prospects.
Bobby Lashley recently uploaded a vlog on his YouTube channel, which featured him working out, driving around, and sharing his thoughts with his fans. During the video, he briefly touched upon what lay ahead of him. The former WWE Champion did not make any huge revelations throughout the video and said that he was preparing himself for no matter what may come his way.
Lashley had not appeared on WWE programming since April. He suffered an injury earlier this year on May 5th during a match in France, which ended up putting him on the shelf. Reportedly, he was not part of the company’s plans for the foreseeable future. These factors eventually led to him leaving the company after his contract ran out.
I see so many articles about what I’m gonna do. Is it WWE? Is it TNA? Is it AEW? I can’t control any of that. But the one thing I can control is how I prepare. I’m ready for anything.Bobby Lashley on YouTube
There were reports of Lashley and MVP joining AEW to re-unite the Hurt Business. However, none of these plans have come to fruition yet. Shelton Benjamin has also been a free agent since 2023. Thus, the faction re-uniting in another promotion remains a strong possibility. The 48-year-old has also teased stepping into a boxing ring shortly after rejecting WWE’s offer to renew his contract.
Professional Wrestling Analyst Sam Roberts believes Bobby Lashley should debut in AEW as a heel
Despite the uncertainty regarding his future, Bobby Lashley’s joining AEW appears to be the most likely scenario for the 48-year-old. Although he was a huge babyface in WWE, Sam Roberts believes that the former WWE Champion should play the role of a villainous veteran when he makes his debut in AEW.
WWE had also tried to portray Lashley as a heel when they paired him up with The Street Profits. However, the fans refused to boo The Dominator, and The Pride was once again turned into a face faction heading into their feud against The Final Testament.
Lashley coming in as a villainous heel voice of experience in AEW, being the voice of veterans who don't like AEW would be an excellent character. That would acknowledge the sort of negative response that AEW gets but put it in a package of a villain, which now makes it, 'Okay then, if we cheer the good guys, it's good to like AEWSam Roberts on Notsam Wrestling
There seems to be a lack of top heels in AEW at the moment, anyway. Although MJF recently turned heel once again, the company has not portrayed him in the main event picture since his return at Double or Nothing 2024. The Blackpool Combat Club looks to be occupied with Bryan Danielson in the meantime, and Kazuchika Okada is also occupied with the mid-card.
