Professional wrestling styles have evolved greatly over the past few years. Although most wrestling is done in a safe environment, some superstars, such as Gunther and Ilja Dragunov, have developed a tremendously hard-hitting and stiff style in recent times. According to Bobby Lashley, Sheamus may be on the top of that list.
Speaking on the Laboratory podcast, Lashley was asked about having tough days at the office when it came to opponents. The former WWE Champion thought for a while and named Sheamus as the toughest wrestler that he had ever worked with in WWE.
Lashley recalled a match he had against the Celtic Warrior quite a while ago. The two superstars hadn’t butted heads in the ring in a long time. The All-Mighty revealed that many wrestlers on the roster told him that he was in for a hard time heading into a match against the 4-time World Champion. The 48-year-old said that many wrestlers in the industry are in it for themselves. However, The Great White only cared about putting on a great show. He commended his opponent’s grit and determination in the ring.
Sure enough, when we started that match, Sheamus came in hard. Boom! He clubbed me so hard and I was like, 'Oh. I'm in a fight.' We really fighting. He likes it. That's what he does. Sheamus is a different character. It's like, what he gives, he takes. So I was like, 'Okay. So we just going to beat each other up here, and it's going to be a good match because of it.Bobby Lashley on the Laboratory Podcast
When the match began, Sheamus came in swinging hard. He clubbed Lashley with a lot of force, which made the former MMA superstar realize that the match was truly going to be a fight. He claimed that the Irish wrestler loved to fight and was a different character. The two superstars decided to beat each other up, which should result in a great match. Lashley may now be AEW-bound, where he will encounter a ton of stiff wrestlers proficient in strong style.
Bobby Lashley comments on his surgery and reveals timeline for returning to in-ring action
During the same podcast, Lashley was asked about not performing for the company over the past few months. He had not competed on WWE TV since April and spent the last months of his contract on the shelf. Furthermore, he was not in the promotion’s creative plans either. With the 48-year-old soon planning on leaving WWE, he talked about his injury and when he plans to be back in the ring.
The former SmackDown superstar revealed that he had a freak accident during a match in France. He underwent surgery for the injury, which ended up being successful. He was told that he wouldn’t be back in the ring for at least six months.
My physical therapist was like, ‘You’re not supposed to be able to do that.’ I said, ‘I’m different. I’m different, bro.’ I’m working out, I’m lifting, and I don’t even think I’m two months out of surgery now, and I’m hitting it pretty hard. I think I’ll be cleared in less than a month. At that time, we’ll see what happens.Bobby Lashley on the Laboratory Podcast
Bobby Lashley revealed he has removed his brace for the past six weeks and has even been working out. His physical therapist told him that he was not supposed to have recovered this quickly. However, the former TNA Champion claimed to be different and was already lifting heavily within two months of his surgery. He believes that he should be cleared to compete in less than a month.
