Kansas City Royals shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. spoke about the Game 4 loss against the New York Yankees in the ALDS series in a postgame conference. The 24-year-old talked about how the team is looking forward to another year and is positive about striking back stronger than the current performance.
Thursday signaled the end of the NY Yankees vs. Kansas City series as the pinstripes won by a 3-1 record. Following several obstacles during the 2024 regular season games and 2023’s 106 losses, the team clinched the wild card spot and their unexpected participation hyped up the entire franchise.
Bobby Witt Jr. admitted that losing the series has definitely left a bad taste in their mouth, but they are already thinking of the 2025 postseason games and how far they can go next round. Many of the team’s core players are rookies led by the veterans.
Two of the most notable ones in the games were Witt Jr. and Vinnie Pasquantino. The 27-year-old spoke about how this experience will fuel their determination next year and will serve as a stepping stone.

"Feels like you let a lot of people down. It'll light a torch in you, leave a bad taste… This team's gonna be special. Teams aren't gonna want to play us. It's gonna be like that for a while." @KCTV5 pic.twitter.com/jC7dvvLDuT
Manager Matt Quantraro chimed in on the sentiment saying, “They’re the heart and soul” of the franchise and how proud he is of their performance this year. Pasquantino even came back after five weeks of breaking his thumb.
Quantraro said it was a “huge emotional lift” to have the first baseman on the roster. “The team respects the heck out of him,” he noted. Their early exit will further “make everyone in this clubhouse want to work harder”. “I feel like our team was special this year,” Witt Jr. added.
