Sports Illustrated is celebrated for its inclusivity, featuring new athletes in its swimsuit edition each year. The recent announcement took the internet by storm, with Cameron Brink as the highlighted face. The star-studded lineup also included Olympians Gabby Thomas, Suni Lee, Jordan Chiles, and Nelly Korda.
WNBA sensation Cameron Brink has mastered the art of balancing multiple roles. In addition to being the No. 2 pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, the rookie has a strong presence on social media. Brink brings her A-game not only in fashion but also through active involvement in mental health awareness and women’s empowerment.
SI Swimsuit Editor-in-Chief MJ Day praised Brink’s inclusion in the lineup, celebrating the promotion of “extraordinary female athletes.” This edition aims to inspire young girls to see themselves as leaders and athletes.

Alongside Brink, Olympian Jordan Chiles was also featured as a model in the issue. The magazine’s Instagram account shared sneak-peek photos taken by photographer Ben Horton, showing Chiles mid-air in a turquoise blue one-piece swimsuit. Chiles gained recognition at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where she won a gold medal in gymnastics.
However, Chiles faced scrutiny when her bronze medal was reallocated to Romanian gymnast Ana Barbosu due to timing complexities and an appeal. Meanwhile, Cameron Brink had to cut her rookie season short due to an unfortunate ACL injury. Before her injury, Brink played 15 games, averaging 7.5 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 1.7 assists.
Cameron Brink became the first WNBA player to sign with New Balance
New Balance recently announced its partnership with the WNBA in a multiyear deal. The deal featured Cameron Brink in broadcast, digital and retail content. As WNBA does not have an exclusive footwear partner, New Balance joined the list with Adidas, Nike, Puma and Under Armour.
The global head of partnerships for New Balance, Jessica Vassall, stated that the company aimed to contribute to achieving parity in women’s sports. The company had signed Cameron Brink a year prior, when she was at Stanford University. Her decision to go with the brand came after her parents had worked with Nike for a long time, as she told CNBC.
The Sparks power forward had long been recognized for her exceptional skills on the court. Brink also played a key role in winning the NCAA Women’s Basketball Championship in 2021 when she was a freshman. Since then, she has appeared in various campaigns for the brand.
