‘Bold’ Rafael Nadal bizarrely asserts winning Olympic Gold was bigger than winning a Grand Slam title

Rafael Nadal made a bold claim when he stated that he considers winning an Olympic gold medal to be a bigger achievement than winning a Grand Slam title. Like every player, he has always been proud to represent Spain at all international events.
Over the years, a lot of tennis players have given their thoughts on where the Olympics stand compared to Grand Slams and other tournaments. Pundits and critics recently called out Novak Djokovic for stating that he considers the Olympics as his top priority this year.

The Spaniard beat Fernando Gonzalez in the final to win the gold medal at the 2008 Beijing Games. He also won gold in the men’s doubles at the 2016 Rio Olympics. Nadal also stated that missing the Olympics in 2012 and 2020 hurt him more than missing a Grand Slam.
