Chris Paul is back home in Los Angeles, but not with the Clippers, as he is now a free agent after apparently being let go over clashes with teammates, head coach Ty Lue, and the front office.

After being sent home at 3 in the morning, it came to light that Lue had refused a meeting with his former point guard, who just wanted to clear the air.

All the 12-time All-Star wanted was to bring to their attention what he felt was wrong with the way the franchise was running. Instead, feelings were hurt, and that led to an exit. Lue labeled Paul as a ‘misfit’ while addressing the media before their game against the Atlanta Hawks, prompting many to wonder what went wrong enough for the franchise to let go of possibly their greatest player in such a manner.

Then, a video surfaced where the head coach was heard apparently mouthing some expletives against Chris Paul. As soon as the video went viral, it came to the attention of one former Clippers player.

Speaking for TLue, This how he joked around with us, he’s a great coach & good dude. He also had that relationship with his players where he talked to us like this & it didn’t have any animosity behind it, it was simply joking around.

The guard defended his former head coach by suggesting such words are used against all players, but not in a derogatory way. Rather, it is Ty Lue’s way of keeping it light and easy amongst his team.

Chris Paul continues working out after being ‘scarred’ by release

As much as Bones Hyland wants to defend Ty Lue, others do not have good stories to share about the Los Angeles Clippers head coach. With his relationship with Chris Paul added to those narratives, painting the NBA championship-winning coach as the villain in this story.

Now that Chris Paul is back home and amongst his family, the 40-year-old knows this was not the way to end his stellar NBA career. For it to end in the manner that he hoped, the guard will have to sign with a team, particularly one in California.

I’m still scarred by it all. Still processing everything. But I’m staying ready.

Paul would naturally be ‘scarred’, as he thought he was going to have a storybook ending to his career. Play for the franchise he dragged from the bottom pits of the league to become a playoff contender, and that too in front of his family.

Now that the dream is over, the Wake Forest alum has to wait and see which teams will be willing to give him a chance. Of all the possibilities, a team in California would be a good way to end his career.

2 options Chris Paul has if he wants to end his career alongside his family

Chris Paul is working out and trying to stay fit as he knows that within a month, he will likely be signing with another team. Keeping his desires in mind, there are only 3 teams where he can play next.

The league has four teams in the state of California. The Los Angeles Lakers, the Golden State Warriors, the Sacramento Kings, and the Clippers. Now that one option is exhausted forever, that leaves him with the other 3.

The Lakers would be a seamless fit, as he will be alongside close friends LeBron James and JJ Redick. It could be the best way for the point guard to dip his feet into coaching.

That way, he stays in Los Angeles, meaning he will not need to leave his family for long. The Kings are a conundrum, as they are also struggling with their trio of veterans.

With Russell Westbrook manning the point guard role, chances are they won’t even entertain a call from Paul’s camp. That leaves the Warriors as a possible destination.

The ‘point god’ played there in the 2023-24 season, and knows his way around the building. Therefore, the Warriors and the Lakers are the only 2 logical options left for Paul.
