After 16 years of hard work, Bobby Lashley’s reign as the WWE Champion has finally begun. This was something that every wrestler dreams of since the day they enter the business. Lashley’s dream finally came true a few weeks ago on WWE Raw.
Despite the 16-year long wait, Bobby Lashley is happy that it took him this long to win the title. Lashley revealed that he mentioned the same thing to WWE CEO and Chairman Vince McMahon.
Lashley recently appeared for an interview on the Justin Kinner Show. He mentioned on the show that he would’ve loved to win the title sooner due to the perks that come along with being a Champion. But the long wait made the win even more special.
“I enjoy the wait. Of course, I would have wanted it sooner because of all the perks that come with it. Champions make a little extra money and get extra things. I just flew on a private jet to Raw. Those are the things you get as WWE Champion and I wish I would have had it before. At the same time, winning it, and I even told this to Vince [McMahon], ‘I’m glad it took me this long to win it.”
Bobby Lashley will defend his title at Wrestlemania
Lashley will be heading into WWE’s biggest event of the year as the WWE Champion. He will defend the title on the first night of Mania against Drew McIntyre.
The duo last fought against each other at WWE Backlash. Interestingly, that match too was for the WWE Championship. But Drew McIntyre was the defending Champion then.
WWE Wrestlemania airs live on 10th and 11th April, 2021.
