The WWE Universe has heavily missed Paul Heyman over the past few months since his absence from WWE programming. Despite not appearing on screen, a recent photo by The Boogeyman suggests that the Wiseman is still lurking backstage at the shows. The 59-year-old has a lot of creative control in The Bloodline storyline. Therefore, he might be present at these shows to call the shots.
The Boogeyman recently shared a photo with Heyman on his X account, expressing his fondness for the Hall of Famer. Although it’s unclear when or where the picture was taken, it’s likely that it was taken as recently as last week.
Last week, it was confirmed that The Boogeyman was backstage on SmackDown. The 60-year-old has signed a legends contract with the company. He occasionally shows up backstage or at shoots for promotional material and similar content. This would also explain why he was wearing full makeup as this photo was taken.
Meanwhile, Heyman has been absent from WWE programming for more than three months. He was taken out by The Bloodline after he refused to acknowledge Solo Sikoa as his Tribal Chief. With Roman Reigns, Jimmy Uso, and The Rock all having returned to WWE, it is only a matter of time before the Wiseman steps back in as well. In fact, The OTC expressed his disappointment on the latest episode of SmackDown after his advisor was nowhere to be found.
CM Punk explains the curse of being a Paul Heyman guy
Paul Heyman has always been a huge believer in CM Punk, going as far back as 2006. He wanted the ECW star to eliminate Big Show at the December to Dismember Elimination Chamber match and even win the whole thing. However, Vince McMahon was not having any of it. This, along with other creative disagreements, was the reason the 59-year-old was released from WWE in 2006. It turns out that things weren’t so easy for the guy that he was advocating for, either.
Speaking on the Rich Eisen Show, CM Punk revealed that while being a ‘Paul Heyman guy’ sounds great on paper, it carries a curse with it. Most of this was dependent on the Hall of Famer’s standing within the company at the time. If he stood up for you and others hated him, there is a good chance that they would hate you as well.
The Second City Saint was sent to OVW in 2006. Here, he finally met the Hall of Famer, who ended up becoming his biggest cheerleader. Thus, the hate trickled down, and a lot of negative sentiment was born for Punk as well.
The two finally reunited later in their careers. Punk and Heyman put on some tremendous heel work during the Best in the World’s 434-day title reign. The Advocate was generally assigned to wrestlers who were great in the ring but had difficulty cutting promos. This was not the case with the Voice of the Voiceless, as the two of them put on magic together.
