Bret Hart is known as one of the greatest WWE superstars of all time. However, he has also faced his fair share of controversies, especially after his in-ring career ended. The Hitman has repeatedly accused Bill Goldberg of being an unsafe worker, ultimately blaming him for ending his career in their match at Starrcade in 1999. Now, he has also accused a certain WWE Hall of Famer of being unsafe with him in the ring.
The name in question is none other than Booker T, who worked with Bret Hart in WCW. The Hitman stated that his Scissors Kick was very dangerous and told him to stop using it on him. He felt that repeatedly hitting his head on the mat could’ve been catastrophic. Not only that, Bret Hart even admitted that King Booker and Goldberg were trying to ‘kill’ him.
While speaking on the Hall of Fame podcast, the former WCW World Champion completely denied all the accusations. He mentioned that Bret was being sarcastic and that they shared great chemistry in the ring. Booker T further added that the rivalry with him was the highlight of his career, and he had nothing but praise for the Hart Dynasty leader.
I think Bret was just being sarcastic. Me and Bret had great chemistry. We had a great time. I know it was a highlight of my career. I don’t remember ever hurting Bret Hart. But I have nothing but praise for ‘The Hitman.’ It ain’t ballet … I’m not gonna sit here and try to justify me whacking Bret Hart. The 67-year-old legend often criticized current superstars like Gunther for overusing moves such as chops. In his opinion, the art of wrestling was not to hurt your opponent but to make the wrestling look real. Furthermore, he even expressed his desire to completely ban the move from being used in the ring.
Matt Riddle shared a story about Bret Hart ignoring him and Damian Priest backstage at a WWE event
Recently, former WWE superstar Matt Riddle also wanted to share his thoughts on Bret Hart. Like the legendary wrestler, The Original Bro is known for stirring up controversies with his words. He recounted an incident involving himself, and his friend Damian Priest with The Hitman on a podcast.

While speaking on Inside The Ropes, Riddle stated that one day he tried to talk to Bret at a WWE live event. The Original Bro admitted that he wanted to ask the 67-year-old star about wrestling, but Bret ignored him. Bret also ignored both Riddle and the Archer of Infamy and didn’t answer any questions.
So I’m at catering, I’m enjoying it, and I get a table with Bret Hart. I’m like, oh, this is cool. I’m not going to be a super mark, but I’m going to ask a couple questions, it’s The Hitman. Bret wouldn’t even respond to me or my friend Damien Priest at the time, because we were sitting next to some pretty attractive ladies.Matt Riddle on Bret Hart Inside The Ropes
Riddle was released from the Stamford-based company in September 2023. His last match in WWE was against Erik and Ivar, which he and Drew McIntyre ended up losing. Since then, the former tag team champion has been wrestling for multiple promotions.
