Booker T recently appeared on the Hall of Fame podcast, where he discussed in detail about the young and upcoming wrestlers. He even specifically discussed the young talent, WWE wrestler Matt Riddle.

Even before discussing, he clarified that he isn’t attacking wrestlers like Riddle, but is trying to help them instead. He revealed that just like the WWE Universe, the first thing he noticed about Riddle was his bare feet. Flipping them off during his entrance looks really cool, even Booker T acknowledges that. But will that really look good on a Champion?, he asks. There’s a protocol. How many barefooted wrestling heavyweight champions have we seen, T asked, himself giving the example of Superfly Jimmy Snuka.

If you’re trying to get to the heavyweight championship or the Universal championship, there has always been a certain look that you have to have. That’s just the way I look at the wrestling business.

There were a couple of instances in the interview, where T mentioned his willingness to guide young talent. He said the first thing that he would do is to make Riddle realize that audience doesn’t just sees, but also wants to feel the wrestling match. T was quick to acknowledge that the new guys are way more capable of doing things that he couldn’t even imagine. But making it feel real is what is more important.

Booker T mentioned that to him wrestling is real. So he wants his audience to feel it. He wants them to be as immersed as they are while watching a Shakespearean play. No one figures out this business in 5,8 or 10 years. It takes much longer than that. He mentioned that you can claim to have figured out the crowd, when a kid cries that you are getting beaten up.

Matt Riddle, a couple of months back was moved to the main roster from NXT. He debuted on WWE’s blue brand Smackdown.
