In much dismay to the tennis fans, the ATP and WTA have announced the discontinuation of their long standing service. In the past, both ATP and WTA have come together to have a unified application for the fans to keep a check on both ATP and WTA matches. However, this application will be discontinued from 2021, which has upset many tennis fans.

The ATP and WTA tweeted a statement at the same time, announcing their split. It said“The WTA and ATP have announced the discontinuation of the ATP/WTA Live Scores App across all mobile and desktop platforms. As a result of changes made to the data feed, the app is no longer able to support the technical requirements of both the ATP & WTA.”

The ATP now recommends it’s users to download the ATP app for their updates and the WTA had asked it’s users to go to their official website to check the scores. ATP’s statement further said, “From today, mobile users will be redirected to the official ATP App, the home of ATP Live Scores which offers an enhanced user experience, and to a dedicated WTA Live Scoring page on http://wtatennis.com.”

Viewing tennis matches digitally has become a huge headache for tennis fans. For ATP matches, they need a subscription of ‘Tennis TV’ whereas the WTA matches are streamed on ‘WTA TV.’ Madison Keys, the American tennis player and Jose Morgado, a tennis journalist are among the few not happy with the discontinuation of the joint service.
