The historic Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway has finally concluded with Denny Hamlin taking his No.11 Toyota to the victory lane, however, the team that he owns, 23X1 Racing, and its No.23 Toyota Camry driver Bubba Wallace had a rough day at work after he was disqualified for not maintaining the required speed.

This unfortunate incident happened as the result of the big-one with 10 laps to go for the end of Stage 2 and Ryan Blaney initiated this as he spun out with a lack of balance collecting Brad Keselowski and many others including Denny Hamlin and Bubba Wallace too but they both sustained minimal damage and were able to continue on the track.

But it all came to an end when Wallace’s team asked him to just cruise along to not attract any further damage and with him still having time on the Damaged Vehicle Policy clock which is usually 6 minutes, but Wallace, since asked to coast lost to a silly reason of not having met the minimum, required speed. Bubba Wallace ended up not reaching the necessary speed to stay out of disqualification in the 3 green-flag laps provided to do so under the rule and this resulted in him taking his car back to the garage having suffered very little damage.

Several fans were agonized on learning that this happened as a result of the call given by No.23 crew chief Bootie Barker to slow down and not sustain further damage till the end of the stage, teams will still have 3 laps to reach a minimum speed where after reaching, the DVP clock won’t matter. Several fans also called out NASCAR for the DVP rule saying that it was purposeless.

Many fans also shared their feelings and sympathized with Bubba Wallace for what was a really miserable end to his run at the iconic Coca-Cola 600 as he had a pretty good start staying in the top-10 for most of stage 1 and he was also equipped with a car capable of making it to the top of the pack, he also slid down to the inside losing balance after a while into stage 2 but was still in the race as he moved back to P14 or P15 before getting involved in the big-one.
