World No.1 Iga Swiatek has been on an unprecedented form in recent months. The Polish star is yet to lose a match since the 25th of April making it 19 matches unbeaten. Yesterday, she crowned her successful clay season by winning the French Open, and German legend Boris Becker believes Swiatek will win the Roland Garros title in double figures.

The Polish star already has four French Open to her name after beating Italian pro Jasmine Paolini in the final yesterday. The 23-year-old only lost a set while playing against Naomi Osaka in the second round, but after that game, she swept all her opponents. One of her best performances was beating Anastasia Potapova 6-0, 6-0 in 40 minutes.

She has now equaled Justine Henin’s record by winning the French Open three consecutive times. With four Roland Garros titles, she sits as the third woman with the most French Open titles, behind Steffi Graf with six and Chris Evert with seven. However, Swiatek is just 23 and has the potential to win more clay major titles. Boris Becker sees shades of Rafel Nadal in the Pole and mentioned that she wouldn’t be surprised if Swiatek wins the French Open in double figures.

Iga Swiatek was simply too overpowering. She had too many weapons, too much pace. I think Paolini perhaps had one match too many in her bones. After all, she played a semi-final in the doubles yesterday. At some point the tank is empty. Iga reminds me a bit of Rafael Nadal and I wouldn’t be surprised if she reaches double figures in the titles in Paris.

Swiatek will be hoping to take her form to the grass season, especially at the Wimbledon Championship, where she has found it hard to win a title. Last year, she reached the quarterfinals of Wimbledon, losing to Elina Svitolina.

Mats Wilander believes Iga Swiatek is too ‘strong’ and ‘tough’ to play against

Hall of Famer Mats Wilander recently showered praise on Iga Swiatek after she beat Jasmine Paolini in the final of the French Open in 68 minutes. The Polish star lost only twenty points after her second-round match against Naomi Osaka.

She has been unbeatable, losing only one set in seven matches at the French Open, and never played a match longer than two hours after her second-round match.

It’s tough to play like Iga because you have to be so strong and have that racket head speed and all the topspin on the forehand. That’s why she’s unbeatable here.

Except for Elena Rybakina, no other player has even come close to beating Swiatek on clay. While she is on a losing record against the Kazakh, Swiatek has incredible stats against the rest of the women on tour.
