Boris Becker, Novak Djokovic‘s former coach, multiple Grand Slam winner, and former World No.1, addressed his concerns about Djokovic’s knee injury in a recent interview and mentioned that it had been bothering the Serb for a while now.

Becker thinks Djokovic had been enduring these knee problems throughout many tournaments now and was upset the latter had not opened up about it earlier. He believes the injury is concerning, and that is bad news for the 24-time Grand Slam champion.

This is bad news for all Djokovic fans and I’m one of them.--He already had knee problems at the last few tournaments but never spoke about them. That’s obviously very bitter for him.--It’s a serious injury and it won’t go away tomorrow. That leaves me a bit speechless. You need your knees on grass, you really do slip all the time.

Amongst these concerns, there was hope in the German veteran’s words as he wished Djokovic a speedy recovery and return to the grass season.

I wish him a speedy recovery so that he is fit again for the grass court season.

However, this seems unlikely now as Djokovic will be undergoing an immediate knee surgery, which will almost certainly keep him out of Wimbledon and maybe even the Olympics, which he said was his biggest goal this year.
