Spanish tennis legend Rafael Nadal playing at the French Open is what everyone had been rooting for and now as the moment nears, the excitement and anticipation are building up. With the reports of Nadal getting closer to the decision of announcing his participation at the year’s second Grand Slam tournament, former German tennis ace Boris Becker has also reacted.

He calls it “good news” as Nadal gets closer to confirming his participation. Reports have emerged that the Spaniard will be flying to Paris by next week and will practice for a few days before the 2024 Roland Garros kicks off.

It has been reported that Nadal is feeling good about his body and hence will fly to Paris for the Grand Slam tournament. After an early exit from the Rome Masters, Nadal headed back to his academy to train. It is also reported that Nadal and his team were happy with the Spaniard’s level in practice sessions and thus, want to go out and compete in a Grand Slam tournament.

With the news of Nadal getting ready to fly to Paris, his fans and the tennis fraternity in common expressed happiness. Becker also joined the fans in expressing excitement as the German shared a post on X.

Big Challenge awaits Rafael Nadal in Paris

Rafael Nadal is a 14-time champion at the French Open and thus, whenever he decides to play at the clay-court Grand Slam tournament, he is the favorite. However, things will be different for the Spaniard at this year’s Roland Garros.

The 37-year-old will be pitted against a top seed in the early stages of the tournament which has not been the case for Nadal in previous editions. He has felt the heat due to this factor in the other tournaments he has played so far in the season.

For example, in Rome, Nadal was pitted against Hubert Hurkacz in the second round and the Spaniard ended up getting knocked out. In Madrid, Nadal bowed out of the tournament after losing to Jiri Lehecka. He faced a similar challenge at the Barcelona Open when he lost to Alex de Minaur in the second round.

Now, it is to be seen if this affects the Spaniard’s chances at the 2024 French Open or if Nadal finds a way out. Even if he does, winning the title will be a huge challenge for the 37-year-old considering the fact that he will be up against one of the top three players in the world currently.
