An online clip of influencer pugilist Jake Paul challenging streamer IShowSpeed is doing the rounds. The footage is from the latest ‘BS w/ Jake Paul’ Podcast episode, with guests Michael Rubin and Gary Vee Vaynerchuk. ‘Problem Child’ takes the cake when taking collaborations or even callouts to yet another level. Like it or not, the lifelong cruiserweight has made a successful career out of his internet callouts.

Paul must be getting confident in his boxing footwork and agility after facing Mike Perry in an eight-round cruiserweight battle for DAZN pay-per-view, because IShowSpeed lives up to his gimmicky name and is quite fast. Darren Jason Watkins Jr., or as he is known, Speed, recently beat popular rapper Travis Scott at the NYC Fanatics Fest. Days after Livvy Dunne, Rubin, and Jake Paul hung around the same fest, Paul professed he could beat him in a dash.

I want to race Speed…in a forty-yard dash, No way. I'll bet real money... I'll bet you.I beat Speed...Speed, this is the call out...[laughs] He's not that fast...

However, Rubi and Vee Vaynerchuk aired their pockets of doubts. A popular content-creator-turned-boxing bettor, Vee Vaynerchuk even amped it to a $25,000 bet. Later, in response to the date and time for the race, Paul simply replied whenever. Never mind that he meets Mike Tyson next in a pro-sanction heavyweight bout in three months. It is to be contested across eight two-minute rounds at AT&T Stadium, for which, he subsequently has had some charged-up banter going on with ‘Iron’.

The funny thing is though, both these internet personalities are quirky enough and no stranger to a spot of streaming competition. The YouTuber previously competed in the Gloucestershire Cheese Rolling 2024. Speed tapped out Adin Ross and even broke Alex Pereira’s Brazillinator record recently at the fest. IShowSpeed also just recently agreed to race against a 2024 Paris Olympic runner. Of course, Paul’s competitive streak is levels above, challenging Tyson of all people.

Jake Paul blasts Mike Tyson fans for “underestimating” his prowess in the ring

Perhaps nothing can highlight the oddity of neo-boxing and crossover culture than Tyson, 58, and Paul, 27, facing each other. The Ohio influencer-boxer has kept up a commendable streak of not ducking and making even the most impossible crossover matches possible. But Tyson with his regressing health was always a risk. Then came the news from Jake Paul that Tyson requested the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations to officially have it as a pro-sanction.

Perhaps this was a late hail mary by the consensus HW icon to show he’s still got it. Contrarily, all hell broke loose after that. One of Paul’s latest podcast episodes featured his brother Logan. Consequently, before long, the upcoming Mike Tyson fight became the focus. When ‘Maverick’ asked, Paul confessed that Tyson hitting the pads still frightens him. After a short chuckle, he explained why.

Yeah, I do, ...But, it’s motivating. And I think it’s good to carry fear into the ring and with you on a daily basis when you’re training because it makes you better...It excites me that I have my toughest, craziest, and most powerful opponent to date. I will say people are underestimating me, though.

Tyson hasn’t fought pro since Kevin McBride. His last outing was an eight-round exhibition against fellow Hall of Famer Roy Jones Jr. It, however, ended in a split draw. But his career of 44 KOs still gives something to fear about. Alongside, Paul is excited to shift a division up to face the ‘Baddest Man on the Planet.’

The boxer admits that he has been subject to much scrutiny and commentary online. He knows if Tyson loses, people will allude to it being rigged. However, he points to recent training snippets with ‘Iron’ in the mitts and how dangerous he still is. As such, he is ready for it and thinks people are underestimating the gravity of it all.
