Anthony Joshua vs Oleksandr Usyk rematch in the works

One of the most anticipated boxing rematches between Anthony Joshua and Oleksandr Usyk is nearing and July looks like the ideal month for the fight.

This rematch has been in the making for more than half a year. After defeating Joshua to capture the WBA, WBO, IBF, and IBO titles, Usyk and Joshua have been waiting to get their hands on each other. While Eddie Hearn suggested that the fight could happen in June or Mid-July, boxing reporter, Dan Rafael has said that a rematch is set to happen on July 23rd.

In one of his recent tweets, Rafael wrote, “The rematch between unified heavyweight titleholder Oleksandr Usyk and former two-time unified titleholder Anthony Joshua, which has been discussed for June 25, probably will not happen then and instead is being planned for July 23, a source with knowledge of the date told Fight Freaks Unite.”

Though the rematch clause was activated in November of 2021, the fight could not be materialized due to a huge tragedy in Ukraine. The boxer was put in a situation where he decided to serve his country, Ukraine in the war against Russia. Usyk, since then has been on the battlefront, arms loaded, defending the honor of his nation.

Oleksandr has recently left the army to train for his boxing match. It makes sense that the rematch has been postponed given the tough situation Usyk and his country is in right now. The English boxer has been very understanding of this and has publicly come out to support his rival who is serving the country.

Usyk is undefeated as a professional boxer. The fighter has a record of 19-0 and 13 KOs. Meanwhile, Joshua has a record of 24-2 with 22 KOs. Do you think Joshua can win back his belts?
