Former two-time champion Anthony Joshua has expressed his desire to see Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk’s highly awaited undisputed fight. The fight, scheduled for February 17 in Saudi Arabia, will decide the undisputed champion. The victor of this fight will claim the IBF, IBO, WBO, WBA, and WBC crowns.

Anthony Joshua declared his intention to attend the fight between Fury and Usyk. He emphasized its importance in defining the heavyweight picture. This is what he had to say:

I will try to come out again for Fury and Usyk, I tend not to go to fights, but that’s an iconic one. Once that fight is out of the way, then the heavyweight division opens up again and we can start leaning toward becoming champions.

Joshua returned to the ring with a convincing win over Otto Wallin in Saudi Arabia. He was set to meet Deontay Wilder in a highly anticipated fight in March. However, Wilder’s shocking loss against Joseph Parker on the same card changed Joshua’s intentions for 2024. With Wilder out, unbeaten fighter Filip Hrgovic has emerged as the frontrunner to face Joshua.

While Joshua’s primary goal is to win world titles, his presence at the Fury-Usyk bout adds a fascinating layer to the ongoing heavyweight story. The probable vacancy of the IBF championship opens the door for Joshua to establish himself as a prominent player in the division.

What does Anthony Joshua’s future look like after Deontay Wilder loses his fight

Following Deontay Wilder’s startling defeat to Joseph Parker, Anthony Joshua’s career in heavyweight boxing has taken an unforeseen turn. Originally, the idea was for Joshua and Wilder to win their respective fights on the same card. This would have cleared the way for a highly awaited clash between the two heavyweights in March.

Joshua successfully beat Otto Wallin, winning by unanimous decision after five rounds. Wilder, on the other hand,  faced an upset at the hands of Joseph Parker. The setback has thrown the anticipated fight between Joshua and Wilder into jeopardy, throwing the British star’s plans for 2024 into upheaval.

Joshua appears unfazed in his quest for championship success. Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk are anticipated to compete for all four major championships, setting up a rematch in 2024. This contractual scenario would preclude the victor from meeting IBF mandatory challenger Filip Hrgovic. This would lead to the IBF heavyweight championship being vacant. In this situation, Joshua emerges as a strong candidate for the vacant IBF title.
