Did Terence Crawford drive himself to hospital after getting shot in the head?

Terence Crawford is one of the most decorated boxers of this generation and has won several world championships in three different weight divisions. Crawford recently defeated one of his biggest challenges Errol Spence Jr and dropped the fighter in the ninth round in an extremely one-sided fight. Crawford has cemented his legacy as one of the greatest to ever do it. 

However, to reach where he is now, the fighter had to go through a lot. One of the most interesting stories of Crawford was when he got shot. Crawford was 4-0 and had already triumphed in a professional match on a September night in 2008. He was playing shooting dice under the streetlights while hanging out with his mates. When he was ready to leave, he was shot in the head.

What happened the night Terence Crawford got shot in the head?

He heard a gunshot while sitting in his car and calculating his profits. Before he was able to react, Crawford was shot on the right side of his head between his ear and neck. Although the bullet missed his head, it nevertheless caused a lot of damage, leaving him with a large wound and a lot of blood loss. Although he was hit, he was able to drive himself to the hospital. After over 5 hours of waiting, he was finally given stitches.

Police discovered after an investigation that Crawford was not the intended victim. He was playing on the pavement with someone else. He was then informed by the medical professionals that the bullet missed his head because of the rear windscreen.

Terence Crawford once sat down with Mike Tyson for an open discussion. ‘Bud’ shared the potentially fatal incident from his background in a discussion with Mike and DJ Whoo Kid on the ‘Hotboxin with Mike Podcast‘. The DJ questioned him about the circumstance and if Bud’s decision to become a boxer was influenced by it.

When talking about the incident, Crawford revealed that he was in the wrong circle which got him into that situation. He said:

Hanging out with the wrong crowd. Doing the wrong things. You know, that’s my testimony.

Terence Crawford said

Crawford also elaborated how despite being shot he never gave up and became a world champion:

Lot of people who get shot at in the head don’t survive, let alone be able to have all the faculties that I do.

Terence Crawford added

Tyson was extremely impressed by Crawford’s story and said:

You gotta be a crazy motherfuc*** to get shot in the head and still do this shi*.

Mike Tyson exclaimed

Terence Crawford has often shown that he is greater than his outward appearance. In addition, the wound he received from being shot has most probably healed. It is safe to say, he is the focal point of this tale of tenacity, resiliency, and fortitude.
