Floyd Mayweather Jr. is one of the most well-known names in the world of boxing. Floyd once met Don King at the World Boxing Council’s 54th annual convention. King is known for promoting the fights of Muhammad Ali and Mike Tyson. Don King was born on August 20, 1931, in Cleveland, Ohio.

King is well known for his flashy style and wild hair, which has always stood up straight. He first made waves when he promoted Muhammad Ali’s fight with George Foreman in 1974. During their interaction, King and Mayweather shook hands. However, things escalated when Don King stated that Floyd needed some help due to being short on cash. Mayweather firmly nodded no, asking his friend to take out his phone while prompting King to wait.

Mayweather proceeded to show King a $100 Million dollar check. This interaction hurt the ego of Don King. Mayweather replied that he made smart investments which could have been a lowkey shot at Don King after he asked for “his help.”

President Mauricio Sulaiman gave Don King the ‘Best Promoter’ label at the World Boxing Council. King was involved in setting up the ‘Rumble In the Jungle’, and he worked with Mike Tyson during his prime. Sulaiman awarded Mayweather ‘Best defense’ while putting him on the list of his TBE.

Floyd Mayweather’s opinion on Gervonta Davis vs. Ryan Garcia

The match between Gervonta Davis and Ryan Garcia was a highly anticipated fight of the year. The bout between the two prominent lightweight sensations was talked about by many, including Floyd Mayweather. Before the match, Floyd predicted that his former protégé would brutally end Garcia.

Floyd also predicted Garcia’s loss prior to the match by stating that Gervonta Davis was in the best physical condition of his life. Floyd also mentioned that Ryan Garcia hasn’t won any significant titles or proven himself as the pound-for-pound. Mayweather said the interim belts that Garcia won do not count or prove anything. Floyd further said he isn’t trying to diss Javier Fortuna from whom Garcia won the interim belt.

Floyd was observing the bout from the ringside at the corner man’s side during the match. Floyd appeared very calm and confident about Gervonta even as the match went on.
