“The push was blatant”- Eddie Hearn slams Dillian Whyte’s claims of foul play during Tyson Fury clash

Tyson Fury knocks out Dillian Whyte

Tyson Fury recently defended his WBO and The Ring heavyweight titles against Dillan Whyte. The fight took place inside the Wembley Stadium on April 23 with a tremendous attendance of 94,000 fans. The fight ended in the sixth round when Fury knocked out Whyte with a brutal uppercut.

Few days after the fight, Dillian Whyte did an interview with Sky Sports and broke his silence regarding the fight. In the interview, Whyte claimed that the push was illegal and didn’t give him a chance to recover. He said :

“I was buzzed but obviously I was trying to regather my senses and he proper pushed me and I fell over and hit my head on the canvas which is illegal. This isn’t wrestling, this is boxing. I should have been allowed extra time to recover and then carried on fighting. I got caught, no doubt about it .. terrible job from the referee there.”

Hearn recently gave an interview to Boxing Social. In the interview, the Brit opened up about his views on the Fury vs Whyte fight.

During the interview, Hearn was asked about his opinions regarding the statement made by Whyte of the illegal push. While responding to the question, Hearn revealed that the upper cut by Fury already hurt Whyte a lot but the push was unnecessary. According to Hearn, Fury shouldn’t have done that but the push didn’t make any difference.

I think he was badly hurt from the uppercut. The push was blatant. Did it make a difference? I don’t know, I don’t think so. But yeah he shouldn’t have pushed him over but he was hurt and he was staggered and when he got up he was out. I don’t think it changed the process of the fight, but it was a foul. That’s for sure,” said Hearn.

Whether it was a foul or not might not make any sense now that the fight is already over. Fans have accepted the outcome which was pretty clear.
