On August 6, Tommy Fury was scheduled to battle Jake Paul at Madison Square Garden. However, he was forced to cancel a second battle with the American Youtuber owing to a visa issue that saw him turned away at the airport last weekend while travelling for a launch news conference.

His re-entry may be restricted due to penalties imposed on known allies of Irish drug cartel head Daniel Kinahan, who is thought to be the leader of the Kinahan Organized Crime Group, which has boxing connections. Tyson Fury, Tommy’s half-brother, is among those sanctioned.

Fury’s father, John Fury, is now alleging that he was in fight camp prior to the bout’s postponement, especially given his own role was limited. Following this interview, the American is now enraged after learning Tommy was not in training or fighting fit for the bout.

In an interview with DAZN, John Fury blurts out the truth about Tommy saying, “Tommy wasn’t exactly in training, he’d only had about 10 days because he’d been on holiday and it was a surprising thing for him. I was a way out of it doing these tours and being busy elsewhere so I never got the chance to look at it properly.”

“When I’ve paid attention, I noticed the whole thing wasn’t right anyway but I said ‘Okay, it is what it is, if you want to go over there and box him, do it. You’re experienced enough now and it’s a 50/50 platform. I know you could be fitter, you’re overweight, but it’s entirely up to yourself because I’m busy and I can’t do it.’ So, he said ‘Okay then, I’ll do my own thing and I’ll go fight him anyway because I can beat him.”

Mere moments later Jake Paul took to Twitter, seemingly seething with anger, saying “I should sue this fool. Own dad exposes why he pulled out a second time.”

It may appear to be without context, but the comment from John Fury may sound bad for his own son and could bring about legal action. So the issue remains: was Tommy a coward, which is why he backed out of the fight or did he have legitimate grounds to cancel it again? If it was the latter, we may witness another type of conflict between the two.
