Disregarding his career, the fighter had also engaged in many controversies. From assault allegations to jail time, the former champion has witnessed it all. Also, Tyson was known to get into physical altercations in his prime.

In an unexpected turn of events, Mike Tyson was rumored to have engaged in an altercation with popular actor Wesley Snipes. Tyson’s bodyguard, Rudy Gonzalez, claimed that the former champion knocked out Snipes in a bathroom. Gonzalez explained the altercation in his memoir, ‘The Inner Ring.’ This incident allegedly stemmed from Tyson’s then-girlfriend, Hope.

According to Rudy Gonzalez, Hope had gone to meet her friend Wesley Snipes. This prompted the controversial fighter’s bodyguards to tail her. After getting the information about the Hollywood actor’s alleged relationship with Hope, Tyson and Gonzalez reached the location. Upon witnessing his girlfriend with Snipes, Mike Tyson invited the actor to the bathroom.

Gonzalez wrote, “After he was gone, I cracked open the bathroom door. Wesley Snipes was sitting against the far wall, head tilted to one side, unconscious.” According to his then-bodyguard, Tyson knocked out Wesley Snipes. Tyson had scary knockout power, which laid out trained athletes effortlessly. Hence, it is no surprise that Snipes went lights-out after catching a strike from Tyson.

The former heavyweight champion had an extensive life outside of boxing. In his book, ‘Undisputed Truth,’ the fighter wrote about his altercation with the Hollywood actor Wesley Snipes. However, Tyson’s version differed from his bodyguard’s version. According to Rudy Gonzalez, Tyson knocked out Snipes in the bathroom upon witnessing him with his ex-girlfriend, Hope.

However, Mike Tyson’s narration seemed to be quite the opposite. The former heavyweight champion wrote, “I made plans to meet Hope at RnB. I sat next to her and asked her how school was when we saw Wesley Snipes walk in. I excused myself and walked over to him. Wesley looked up, saw me, and panicked.” Tyson and Snipes allegedly laughed the incident off as they witnessed the actor panicking.

This was quite an unexpected encounter between the former heavyweight champion of the world and the Hollywood actor. There are two different versions of the story. Mike Tyson and his bodyguard Rudy Gonzalez narrated alternate versions of the incident in their memoirs. Due to the contradictory stories, fans would never know the truth. It is possible that Gonzalez cooked up the incident to drive book sales of his autobiography.
