Mike Tyson is the embodiment of talent meets hard work to achieve greatness. Tyson got into boxing in his teens but his mentality was different from others in his gym. Tyson’s raw talent was impressive but it needed a lot of hard work to hone his skills which made him the youngest ever heavyweight champion of the world.
While talking about his training routine at the age of 17, Tyson mentioned how he used to take up early at 3 and go for running. According to Tyson, it was followed by 500 push-ups and 500 sit-ups. Tyson then mentioned watching boxing films and then going to the gym for boxing related training.
He said: “First thing at 3 o’clock we’re running. You come back, you do a couple of hundred abs, push-ups, all that stuff. Around 500 push-ups and 500 abs. Watch some more films, get in the hottest, your body is aching and stuff and you get ready to go to the gym.” Tyson’s mindset helped him during his intense training sessions which ultimately lead to win back to back fights and conquer the world of heavyweight boxing.

Tyson’s transformation from being the ‘Baddest man on the planet’ to a humble and knowledgeable retired boxing legend is something that the whole world has seen.
Currently, Mike is just a shadow of his former self and doesn’t have anything to do with that old Tyson. In an interview with Joe Rogan, Tyson mentioned that he doesn’t train anymore as it might bring back his ego which is dangerous for him. He said: “Nah man I keep away from that stuff man. All that stuff will reactivate my ego. If I get back my ego, imma loose in life..I do my treadmill working and stuff.”
Tyson continued: “In order to arrive at the next chapter in life, you have to forget the chapter that came before you…. being that person that guy, that send me psych ward. That guy was a trip.”
According to Tyson, back in his boxing days he went to dark places due to his eager to fight and destroy his opponents; however, now he doesn’t like to think about it at all.
