Joe Rogan joined his buddies Eddie Bravo, Brendon Schaub, and Joey Diaz in a ‘Fight Companion’ episode on his JRE podcast. They watched the fights of UFC 297 and discussed the outcome. On a tangent, they went on to converse about a hypothetical fight between comedians Bryan Callen and Andrew Schulz.
The conversation started when Eddie Bravo bought it up and said Bryan Callen could box. In response, Joe Rogan argued that Andrew Schulz would annihilate Callen. As such, he expressed his wish to see them compete. Further, former UFC fighter Brendan Schaub gave an idea of him cornering Callen and Schulz. When Bravo suggested they’d make the fight for charity, Rogan jumped in to say Callen wanted money since he went through a divorce. Here is what Joe Rogan said:
I told him (Bryan Callen) Andrew Schulz would f**k him up. Let's make it happen...Come on man! We aren't giving any money away. These guys need to make money. Callen needs the money. He got divorced.Joe Rogan (via Joe Rogan Experience)
While Brendan Shaub and Eddie Bravo sided with Bryan Callen, Joe Rogan stood with Andrew Schulz. Further, defending his point, the UFC commentator detailed an instance when Shultz hit mitts while having a sore toe. Even, Bravo looked astonished on seeing the clip. Then, Schaub and Bravo brought up Callen’s wheel kick skills. Rogan just dumped it critiquing his technique.
The potential boxing match between Bryan Callen and Andrew Schulz excited Joe Rogan and his friends. But, it remained highly unlikely considering Callen was 57 years old and Schultz pushing into the 40s. However, the combat world has presented wilder things. Even recently, a boxing match was confirmed between former UFC fighter Rampage Jackson and Shannon Briggs. As such, anything could happen.
Brendan Callen speaks about the possibility of fighting Andrew Schulz
Bryan Callen and Brendan Schaub released their latest episode of ‘The Fighter and the Kid’ podcast this week. In the podcast, Callen addressed the talk Schaub had with Joe Rogan and Eddie Bravo in the JRE podcast about him fighting Andrew Schulz. As such, he and Schaub discussed the matchup and the possibility of it happening.
Firstly, Brendan Schaub detailed the conversation that happened in Joe Rogan’s podcast and questioned Bryan Callen on the possibility of the fight happening. In response, Callen positively said he would train if the matchup got confirmed. However, he had an asterisk to it. He said he was old, had kids to take care of and just looked at the grueling work that needed to be put in. But, he was willing if the money was right. Here is what he said:
I'll start training if I have to...I'm 57 years soon and I have four kids. I wish I had the time. Do I go to a gym and train two hours a day? That's gonna be tough dude...(Interrupting Schaub when ruled the fight out) Unless I'm getting money for it.Bryan Callen (via The Fighter And The Kid)
Boxing ventured into an off-beat area when influencers started picking up the sport and a new term, ‘Influencer Boxing’ came into existence. Currently, many influencers, no matter what age, jumped on the opportunity and fought for fun. As such, a fight between Byan Callen and Andrew Schulz remained probable but highly unlikely to happen. Anyway, both of them have a successful stand-up career to focus on.
