The news of Mike Tyson returning at 57 years old to fight the Youtuber-turned boxer, Jake Paul has shocked the fighting world. Many believe it was an unfair fight for the boxing legend pointing out the 31-year age difference. However, former UFC fighter, Tyron Woodley, who has fought Jake Paul before claimed otherwise.
In a recent video on his YouTube channel, Tyron Woodley reacted to the fight announcement of Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul. As such, he had very high praise for Tyson and made some bold predictions. He believed age wasn’t a factor for the legendary boxer owing to his experience and muscle memory in the sport. Woodley not only believed Tyson could beat Jake Paul but beat the current heavyweight champions. Here is what he said:
The one fighter that most people fear (is Mike Tyson). The age is not a factor. That's a wash. Experience level is obviously going to go to Mike Tyson. He has the power and ability to shift organs in your body if he hits you with the right force. He can just go into auto-pilot and wreck some of the current heavyweight champions in the boxing division now. "Tyron Woodley (via YT-Tyron Woodley)

While Mike Tyson was not in his athletic prime, he showed glimpses of his old self in his training sessions. As such, Woodley expected ‘Iron’ to win against Jake Paul. Having fought ‘The Problem Child’ twice before, Woodley claimed he didn’t even want to step into the ring against Mike Tyson, affirming his point about Tyson being the scariest boxer.
Mike Tyson last fought Roy Jones Jr. in an exhibition bout in 2020. Professionally, he retired from boxing in 2005. As for Jake Paul, he would be coming in with a TKO win over Ryan Bourland. As such, this fight goes down on 20 July at the AT&T arena and will be live-streamed on Netflix.
Tyron Woodley wants everyone to respect Jake Paul if he wins over Mike Tyson
The fighting community has been trashing Jake Paul for setting up a fight with Mike Tyson. However, former UFC champion Tyron Woodley welcomed the matchup and showed his eagerness for it to go down. As such, despite the age discrepancy, Woodley believed it would be an equal contest and competitive in its own right. So, he went against the tide and vouched for Jake Paul to be appreciated if he won against ‘Iron Mike’.

Apart from bashing Jake Paul, some critiqued fighting Mike Tyson was a lose-lose situation for him. The major argument was if Paul won, he’d have won against a long-retired old fighter. If he lost, he lost to a fighter who was 31 years older than him. However, Woodley felt ‘The Problem Child’ had to be credited if he legit won against Mike Tyson, given the accolades of Tyson. Here is what he said:
If Jake Paul beat Mike Tyson, I don't give a f**k if he's 70, you're gonna have to put at least an ounce of respect on his name.Tyron Woodley (via YT-Tyron Woodley)
Tyron Woodley’s opinion stemmed from the fact he backed Tyson to win this fight. He believed the experience and years of honing his craft, ‘Iron Mike’ could pull this off. Nonetheless, this matchup received more hatred on the internet and was ridiculed by many popular fighters.
