Oscar De La Hoya, also known as ‘The Golden Boy’, is a well-known name in the sport of boxing. He has won ten world championships in six different weight classes, making him one of the greatest athletes to ever pick up a pair of gloves. In addition to boxing, he also started his own promotion company, Golden Boy Promotions. Subsequently, his promotions have been very successful, featuring many great fighters.
The best boxers have given up the sport due to age. Similarly, Oscar De La Hoya isn’t any different since he had to retire from his illustrious career in 2009 at the age of 36. However, it seems he hasn’t allowed his age to get in the way of his boxing skills. As such, BoxingKingdom posted a video of him shadowboxing and hitting pads, which showcases his impressive skills.

The caption of the video is wrong since De La Hoya is currently 51 years old and was born in 1973. Furthermore, this video is from 2020 or 2021, when De La Hoya was planning on ending his retirement. Hence, since the video is 4-5 years old, it is safe to say that De La Hoya is roughly 46–47 years old in the video.
Regardless, De La Hoya has impressive footwork and jabs even after almost a decade of his retirement. In addition, his age has not taken away from his talents, which once made him an Olympic-level boxer and a world champion.
Fans react to Oscar De La Hoya’s video
It’s no secret that De La Hoya was one of the best boxers in the world. With a 39-6 record, he has lost to the likes of Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather. Subsequently, his style is well known to the masses, and for good reason.
In addition to winning gold at the Olympics, De La Hoya had a dominant career. Hence, seeing the old video of the boxing legend hitting the pads was a pleasant sight to witness. Furthermore, even after years of retirement, De La Hoya has not lost his world-class boxing skills. As such, fans reacted to the video, stating, “Still beats Ryan.”

Fans appreciated De La Hoya for his achievements and his illustrious career. Furthermore, fans were in awe after witnessing his speed and technique, even after his retirement. Subsequently, some fans noted that the video was old and that De La Hoya was 46 during the video.
