“Can’t use your tongue inside the ring”- Anderson Silva’s coach warns Jake Paul on a potential fight against his protege
Jake Paul and Anderson Silva
47-year-old former MMA champion Anderson Silva has been putting on show after show in his boxing career. Jake Paul couldn’t help but take notice of the recent win and even replied in a sly way.
Silva retired from MMA a long time ago and like most MMA fighters these days post-retirement, Silva took the boxing route. However, unlike most MMA fighters, Anderson has actually managed to put on tremendous performances back to back. Paul, the YouTube boxer who relishes a boxing match against a former MMA champion is taken aback by Silva’s shouts.
“The Spider” recently fought on the undercard of Floyd Mayweather in an unofficial Abu Dhabi combat sports show held at the Etihad Arena. Silva took on Bruno Machado and put on a dazzling performance as the 47-year-old knocked down his opponent in the fifth round. The fight still went the distance and no winner was announced given it was an exhibition bout.
“He never fought a striker“- Anderson Silva’s coach advises Jake Paul to stay away from ‘The Spider’ and Floyd Mayweather
Paul taunted Silva with a snarky Tweet, and Silva’s long-time coach believes Jake is biting more than he can chew. Talking on MMA Fighting, he said, “You have to laugh, right? Have to laugh. Jake Paul is doing his part, which is to promote. It’s obvious there’s no way he can face Mayweather, one of the best boxers of all time, and Anderson, another legend. He never fought a striker.”
Luiz Carlos Dorea said, “He has to think of an exhibition. If he’s considering a fight, I think he will pay dearly. In promoting, it’s all valid. He’s doing his part, using his tongue, but you can’t use your tongue inside the ring. You have to use your fists, and it’s a whole other story. Anderson is far better.”
Talking about Silva he said, “Anderson has always trained boxing when he was fighting MMA. He was always a striker with good boxing and muay Thai. Now, almost two years later and the three (boxing fights) we’ve done, and training boxing specifically for this, Anderson is evolving a lot.”
