“Kambosos is earned $10M”- Ariel Helwani pitifully regards Conor McGregor as the only UFC fighter to earn like George Kambosos
Devin Haney and George Kambosos will fight at the Marvel Stadium this weekend
With a majority decision loss to Devin Haney in their lightweight blockbuster in Melbourne, Australian boxer George Kambosos Jr forfeited his three world title crowns. The fight between Devin Haney and George Kambosos Jr. resulted in a unanimous decision after twelve rounds of action. Haney was crowned the world’s undisputed lightweight champion. At Marvel Stadium on Sunday, Haney handed Kambosos his first loss in his 21-fight career, adding the WBA, WBO, and IBF belts to the WBC title he already had.
Haney, who kept Kambosos at bay with his persistent left jab throughout the fight, is now the world’s undisputed lightweight champion (WBA, IBF, WBO, and WBC) after a unanimous points victory on Sunday. The unbeaten professional boxing record of the 23-year-old stays unblemished at 28-0.

The $10 million payday for George Kambosos reveals a unfair treatment of UFC athletes
In the aftermath of George Kambosos Jr’s loss to Devin Haney, longtime MMA journalist Ariel Helwani pointed out the significant wage difference between top UFC fighters and boxers.
Coming into the fight at Marvel Stadium as a three-belt world champion, Kambosos Jr was guaranteed $10 million for his first defence. Ariel took to Twitter and reported the following,
“For the MMA fans out there, Kambosos reportedly earned in the ballpark of 10 million for that fight. There ain’t an MMA fighter not named Conor McGregor making anywhere near that right now upfront. There should be. Several. But alas”
For a variety of reasons, the compensation of MMA fighters is discussed practically every week. Despite the sport’s huge popularity, the combatants’ pay hasn’t increased significantly. Only a handful, such as Conor McGregor, have achieved the degree of celebrity that ensures them millions of dollars in fight fees.
UFC and boxing bouts aired at the same time on another weekend. While the UFC held a ranking heavyweight showdown at the UFC Apex, a major boxing event took place in Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium. From top to bottom, both shows featured great fights. However, one point that fight fans brought up was the salary disparity between MMA and boxing athletes. The debate would continue until the UFC reforms its policy to make it for the athletes competing.
