Badou Jack won’t be fighting Canelo Alvarez as the champion has too many requirements for the fight, instead, Jack wants Alvarez to fight David Benavidez. Jack has made it clear through a tweet that he is pulling out from the expected boxing bout against Canelo Alvarez.
The WBC cruiserweight champion refused to comply with Alvarez’s request to fight at a contracted maximum of 180 pounds, which is 20 pounds less than the cruiserweight limit of 200. Alvarez requested a rehydration provision in their contracts too which Jack has no plans to accept.
He wrote: “I won’t be fighting Canelo next. They said the weight difference is too much. They wanted to drain the old man and fight me 20 pounds UNDER the cruiser weight limit for the title, plus a rehydration clause. Canelo let’s give the fans what they want to see and fight David Benavidez.”
Badou Jack ended his tweet by telling Alvarez to give the fans what they want and fight Benavidez, who has long been in search of Canelo.
Canelo Alvarez vs David Benavidez: Fight that has been on the table for years now

David Benavidez has been calling out Alvarez for years now and Canelo Alvarez has yet to make the fight happen. Alvarez previously ignored Benavidez as he hasn’t achieved anything. Another reason was Alvarez wanted to visit his former opponent, Dmitry Bivol for their rematch but the Russian isn’t interested in the fight.
Recently, Benavidez took to Instagram to ask Alvarez why he’s “afraid” of taking the fight against him. Canelo ignored a recent $50 million offer that was sent by Benavidez’s promoter to him. However, it seems like there might be nothing else that can stop Alvarez from taking the fight.
Fight fans, especially Mexican fans, are extremely excited for the fight between Benavidez vs Alvarez. It will be interesting to see what Alvarez will choose in the upcoming weeks.
