Francis Ngannou has emerged as the new contender in the heavyweight division after his stellar performance against Tyson Fury. Many people had assumed that Fury would easily win against Ngannou since it was his boxing debut. However, Ngannou surpassed the boxing world’s expectations, and many have argued that he was robbed of a victory. Furthermore, the former UFC champion is scheduled for his second bout against the former world champion, Anthony Joshua

Subsequently, their fight will take place on March 8 as part of the current Riyadh season. While most fans are still waiting to see what the fight will bring, former pro boxer and boxing commentator Carl Froch has joined the bandwagon.

The British boxing analyst made a strong claim on his YouTube channel ‘Froch on Fighting’ that the fight was acceptable after Francis Ngannou‘s performance against Fury. Furthermore, Forch stated:

It’s a fight that Anthony Joshua could potentially struggle with. We saw Ngannou struggle against Tyson Fury, and Tyson Fury struggled. Was that because Ngannou is good or because Fury didn’t quite turn up? I think the latter... but Ngannou was tidy.

Froch stated that Ngannou deserves the fight after his performance against Fury and believes that Nannou has proved his potential. Hence, Froch discussed how Joshua could struggle against Ngannou since Fury, who is an undefeated heavyweight champion, did.

In addition, Froch claimed that this fight is a ‘cash grab’ and is not good for heavyweight boxing necessarily. Furthermore, Froch brought up how Joshua wants to become a three-time world champion, but this fight won’t involve any titles.

Eddie Hearn confirms Anthony Joshua vs. Francis Ngannou

Joshua was supposed to fight Deontay Wilder if both of them had won their respective fights in the Day of Reckoning event. Joshua was able to secure his victory, but Wilder ended up losing to Joseph Parker. This completely ruined the plan for the massive heavyweight clash, but now we have a new exciting fight in its place.

Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s promoter, has confirmed that Joshua and Ngannou have signed an agreement to fight on March 8. The date was originally scheduled to be Joshua’s fight against Wilder. Hearn revealed that the details of the 10-rounder will be announced at a press conference set for January 15. In the meantime, the upcoming fight marks another significant fight for ‘The Predator.’

This is mainly because Ngannou almost scored an upset victory over Tyson Fury last October in his professional debut in Riyadh. In addition, Joshua is a fan favorite, so Ngannou is again slated to be a massive underdog in this upcoming fight.
