Mexican fighter Canelo Alvarez will soon be fighting welterweight champion Jermall Charlo in September. Alvarez is coming off a win against British boxer John Ryder and will defend his super middleweight title against Charlo. Although Charlo is a sensational fighter, he has been out of the ring for nearly two years. Fans have called out Alvarez for picking an easy fight and also think, the Mexican boxer is past his prime after witnessing his new training video.
Canelo Alvarez after his loss to Floyd Mayweather went undefeated for nearly a decade. He had an impressive run and put on several dominant performances going up to the 168 lbs division. However, Canelo faced his second loss against Russian boxer Dmitry Bivol at 175 lbs. Bivol completely outboxed Canelo and broke his impressive winning streak. Ever since then fans have started thinking maybe the Mexican boxer should call it quits.
After his latest win, Canelo himself has tried to book a rematch with Bivol. However, both fighters want the fight under different circumstances and failed to reach a decision. After no chance of a rematch, Alvarez signed a multi-million dollar fight deal with PBC in hopes of getting the Charlo fight. Canelo has already started taking the training seriously and is back to the gym preparing for Jermall. In his recent video, the Mexican boxer can be seen training with a punching bag and delivering some powerful shots.
However, after watching the training clip fans feel Alvarez is not the fighter he once was. The Mexican boxer is being called washed as they pick Charlo to hand him his third loss.

After scoring a dominant win against John Ryder in his latest bout, Mexican Boxer Canelo Alvarez wants to take on Jermall Charlo. Alvarez wanted to settle the score with Dmitry Bivol after his loss in 2022. However, The Russian boxer wants to fight at 168 lbs for Canelo’s belts which did not sit right with the Mexican boxer.
Alvarez dropped the idea of a second fight and approached Badou Jack with a catch-weight fight. However, Jack rejected the fight stating that Canelo was asking for too many ridiculous conditions. After signing a multi-fight deal with PBC Canelo is expecting to face Charlo in September and is already in the gym training for his fight. However, fans seem to believe Alvarez is past his prime after witnessing his training session.
“He gon have to dig deep cause the disrespect is he ain’t got it no more, ” posted a user on Twitter. “He looks washed, ” added another user. While many root for Charlo the fight is not a done deal yet. Canelo and PBC expect Jermall to sign the contract and go head-to-head with Canelo in September.
