“Very talented fighter”- Canelo Alvarez picks his favourite boxer of this generation

Canelo Alvarez will be remembered in the history books as the greatest boxer of our generation. The Mexican sensation who has suffered only one defeat in his 60 professional bouts has made it look too easy in moving up weight classes and gaining new titles. All this greatness however doesn’t mean that Saul himself does not have a personal favourite boxer in our time.
Canelo is set to face Dimitri Bivol, this Saturday, and in the ongoing press tour was asked by a reporter to name his favourite boxer in the current generation, Canelo had a surprising answer, to say the least. The Champion Boxer said he doesn’t watch boxing too much. Seemingly training to be the best doesn’t allow you to watch the rest. Canelo said, “I don’t watch too much boxing, but Gervonta Davis I like” praising the undefeated 27-year old hailing him to be a , “Very Talented Fighter”
Gervonta “Tank” Davis who is under the management of the only person to defeat Canelo, Floyd Mayweather was the last answer anyone expected. Many thought Canelo’s former Golden Boy Promotions teammate, Ryan Garcia would be Canelo’s favourite fighter considering their shared heritage and similar flamboyant styles.

Canelo Alvarez looks for a personal challenge in the move to Light Heavyweight
Davis, who is currently the WBA Super lightweight Champion will look to defend his title against 14-0 boxer, Roland Romero in New York City, at the Barclay Center on the 28th of May. Canelo Alvarez on the other hand will look to move up in weight and face Dimitri Bivol for the WBA Light-Heavyweight Title this weekend.
Canelo has also expressed an interest in Facing Oleksandr Usyk for the Heavyweight Championship of the world and believes he can beat the undefeated Ukrainian. When talking about his reasons to move up in weight and face Bivol, Alvarez said, “I need to feel that kind of challenge” explaining how reigning on the middleweight and super middleweight divisions was not enough to keep him going and hence he had to look for more challenges not just for the history books but for him personally
