In January at Manchester’s AO Arena, Liam Smith knocked down Chris Eubank Jr. twice and won the middleweight bout when the referee stopped it. However, this past Saturday at the same venue, Eubank Jr. turned the tables, knocking out Smith twice and winning by TKO in the 10th round.

Eubank Jr. displayed superior boxing skills throughout the entire bout, effectively shifting his focus between targeting his opponent’s head and body by changing levels while making wise choices with his punches in his comeback

In contrast, Smith appeared lethargic and allowed rounds to slip away immediately. The initial knockdown occurred in the fourth round, mirroring the outcome of their first fight, with Smith going down to one knee and what appeared to be strategically spitting out his mouthguard to gain some extra time. Surprisingly, this tactic worked better than he might have anticipated, briefly halting Eubank Jr.’s advancing charge.

As the bout resumed, Eubank Jr. initially aimed to secure a knockout, but when that proved difficult, he opted for a more patient approach as the fight continued. However, in the 10th round, he knocked down Smith again with a well-placed left hook, following a strong start to the round.

Nevertheless, it became evident that Smith was merely postponing the inevitable result, as Eubank Jr. backed him into the ropes and unleashed a flurry of punches. Eventually, referee Kevin Parker stepped in to halt the fight, securing Eubank Jr.’s redemption and victory.

Chris Eubank Jr. was clinical in the second fight and didn’t give Liam Smith any opportunity to make an impact throughout the fight. During the post-fight interview, Eubank Jr claimed that this was the result he wanted to get in the first fight. “What happened tonight was supposed to happen in January. I trained hard, the focus is always there and I dedicate my life to this sport.”

After the wins, the fighter looks confident and mentions that he has always dedicated his life to the sport of boxing. Smith took the loss with dignity and admitted that he had not been in his best shape lately, as he struggled with his movement after an ankle injury. “Chris was the better man tonight,” he said. “Chris knows how I was with the weight and after the injury, I came down three stone. I was flat as they come from the get-go. I couldn’t move my feet and Chris was sharp.” admitted Smith in the post-fight interview.
