Anthony Joshua has been jeered by the crowd throughout his fight, which was quite disturbing for him. He was unable to land a single punch until a massive right to the chin ended Robert Helenius’ night. This victory is Joshua’s first in a stoppage in two and a half years. Subsequently, it paved the way for a highly anticipated showdown. On the other hand, American boxer Deontay Wilder is scheduled to take on Joshua in January.

In the first few seconds of the fight, Helenius moved into the center of the ring and landed a wild left. Joshua was moving around a lot, trying to set up traps. He threw one shot at a time, not really challenging the substitute fighter. “It’s hard to find the right hand,” Joshua said to his trainer Derrick James who told him to keep trying.

Joshua adhered to the instructions of his trainer. The referee, Victor Loughlin, stopped the fight after Helenius was sent to the canvas following a double feint, followed by a right. After the knockdown, an emotional and smiling Joshua emerged from the ring, shaking hands with fans and sharing a beer with Irish MMA fighter Conor McGregor.

Helenius left the ring without assistance after receiving a round of applause from the crowd. It was hard for Joshua to get his foot on the gas, but the way he finished might just be the confidence boost he needed, and a subtle reminder to the rest of the heavyweights that he’s not finished yet.
