“ARE YOU KIDDING ME,” Daniel Cormier reacts to Anderson Silva opening up as betting favourite against Jake Paul
Jake Paul- Daniel Cormier- Anderson Silva
When the betting odds opened up favouring Jake Paul against Anderson Silva in a boxing match, some people couldn’t believe their eyes, Daniel Cormier was one of them. Cormier is a UFC Hall of Famer who is the second fighter in UFC history to become a simultaneous 2-division UFC champion. He is currently a talkshow host for ESPN MMA, an official broadcaster for the UFC, a wrestling coach and a successful Youtuber. Cormier is also a former Olympian in freestyle wrestling.
Paul is a Youtuber-cum-boxer who is also a boxing promoter. Paul is 5-0 as a professional boxer with wins over former world champions in MMA such as Tyron Woodley and Ben Askren. Paul is also the co-founder of Most Valuable Promotions which manages to promote boxers such as women’s boxing great Amanda Serrano and upcoming boxing prospect Ashton Sylve. Anderson Silva is a former UFC middleweight champion who is currently 2-0 as a professional boxer and is widely considered one of the greatest fighters of all time.
Daniel Cormier believes people should highly consider Anderson Silva’s performance against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr while betting
In one of the videos on his Youtube channel, Daniel Cormier talks about 3 hot topics going around the world of combat sports in a special segment by giving each topic a total of 5 minutes. Cormier talks about his reaction to his Twitter beef against Jorge Masvidal and his reaction to Ariel Helwani stopping the physical altercation between Bellator MMA fighters Raufeon Stots and Danny Sabatallo. But Cormier starts off by talking about Silva opening up as a betting underdog against Paul in a potential boxing match assumed to happen on October 29, 2022, in Pheonix, Arizona.
“Now what Anderson Silva has done since he started fighting boxing, it’s truly been amazing,” says Cormier. Referring to Silva’s debut boxing match against former world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, Cormier said “Anderson not only fought this dude who has spent a lifetime in boxing, who is the son of one of the greatest boxers of all time, he actually beat him. Anderson actually beat that dude. So now when you hear, he opens as an underdog to Jake Paul, come on man, you got to be kidding me…”
After opening up as an underdog, the betting money started to pour largely on Silva winning and now the odds have shifted to the middleweight great being the favourite fighter. What did you make of Silva opening up as a betting favourite against Paul in their anticipated boxing match come late October? What did you make of Cormier’s reaction to it? Who do you think wins between Paul and Silva? Where does the winner go from this fight?
