Dubois was not part of the post-fight press conference because of his upsetting loss, but he spoke to BBC. Dubois said he and his team are trying to get the WBA to call it a no-contest. Subsequently, he stated the punch landed on his shorts’ waistband despite the referee claiming otherwise. Furthermore, he added that according to the referee rules meeting, the waist is the center of the hips; hence, it is much lower.

Boxing fans and experts have been heavily discussing the heavyweight bout between Dubois and Usyk and the controversial low blow. Furthermore, half of them consider that Dubois was robbed, while the others considered the shot a low blow.

In boxing, the referee gives a fighter five minutes to recover from a low blow. Furthermore, the 36-year-old Ukrainian champion utilized four of those minutes to get back into action in the main event at Tarczynski Arena. After three minutes, Usyk informed the referee to resume the fight, and the referee told him to take more time. Dubois’s shot was dangerous for Usyk because of his vulnerability to body shots despite having a durable neck.

Though Usyk proved he was the better boxer by winning most of the rounds. However, most fans think that if the referee had counted Usyk out instead of giving him time, then Dubois would reign as the new champion
