Canelo Alvarez vs. David Benavidez is a fight for which fans have been waiting for quite some time. However, it doesn’t appear that the fight will happen anytime soon. Several people, like Mike Tyson, have called out Alvarez for not fighting Benavidez. This did not faze the Mexican boxing super star since he believes that he has reached a point in his career where he doesn’t have to prove himself.
In addition, he called Benavidez “nothing” and stated that he was willing to fight him for $150–200 million. Hence, Alvarez directly stated that he does not want to fight Benavidez for his boxing legacy and would rather fight him if the payday was worth it. In response, Benavidez’s promoter, Sampson Lewkowicz, stated that Alvarez despised the $150 million fighter’s purse. Furthermore, he stated that it would be a shame for the sport if the fight didn’t happen. As such, Lewkowicz stated:
He’s very smart. Canelo is a very good businessman. And I believe that he deserves the 150.

Benavidez’s promoter was happy to find out the price required to make a fight between them happen. Subsequently, Lewkowicz stated that they just have to now procure a source for the funds to make the fight happen. The promoter also complimented Alvarez’s and called him a good businessman.
In addition, Lewkowicz stated that Alvarez is following in the footsteps of Floyd Mayweather. He also mentioned that if Mayweather deserved such a payday, then so does Alvarez. Furthermore, Lewkowicz stated that $200 million is a bit far-fetched, but a $150 million fight can be made into a reality.
David Benavidez responds to Canelo Alvarez.
After Alvarez dismissed the fight against David Benavidez, he stated that he had nothing to gain from the fight. The Mexican Monster responded to this by stating that if Alvarez has nothing to gain, then why is he asking $150–200 million for the fight.
Hence, Benavidez questioned how Alvarez could dismiss him but at the same time demand such a fighter’s purse. He proceeded to ask him to buy a pair of n*ts after he gets paid $150–200 million, which was a dig at Alvarez’s alleged cowardice.
In addition, Benavidez went on to give a massive hint to fans. The Mexican Monster stated that he wouldn’t be surprised if the fight happened in September 2024. However, his promoter, Lewkowicz, has stated that he won’t fight in September if Benavidez fights Oleksandr Gvozdyk in June.
In case you missed it!
