The former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder has spoken about his retirement plans. Wilder has not entered the ring after his non-title bout with Robert Helenius. Furthermore, Wilder has remained inconsistent, especially after his two consecutive losses to Tyson Fury.
Wilder stated in an interview with Frenzee Broadcasting, “I think I’ve got three more years left. I’m gonna bless the world my last three years with some of the best fights they ever seen.” Furthermore, Wilder revealed that he planned to participate in at least six to nine more fights in the next three years. Wilder also stated that he had always fought the best fighters in the heavyweight division and will continue that trend. The former heavyweight felt that he had already solidified his legacy and career through his achievements.
Wilder stated that he did not need the boxing business, but rather, the business needed him. Furthermore, Wilder stated that people who tried to taunt and laugh at him did not realize that they would always remember his achievements. However, despite his impressive career and devastating Kos, Wilder still wishes to put on a show for the world.
Tyson Fury defeated Wilder in 2020, ending his reign as the world’s heavyweight champion. Fury defeated Wilder again in a classic rematch the following year, stopping his attempt to reclaim the title.
Deontay Wilder might face off against Anthony Joshua next

The WBC has recently updated the top contenders list, and Deontay Wilder has secured the first place on the list. Subsequently, they have ranked the British heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua second on the list.
A potential fight between Wilder and Joshua will decide Fury’s next opponent for the WBC Heavyweight title. Wilder mentioned that he was keen on facing Joshua, Andy Ruiz, or his British rival Fury. Joshua knocked out Helenius recently and took Ruiz’s place as the second-ranked contender in the WBC list. Hence, a bout between Ruiz and Joshua could also happen, and the winner would face off against Wilder. Furthermore, fans have been waiting since early 2018 for Joshua vs. Wilder, when both of them were at the pinnacle of their boxing careers.
However, Wilder’s trilogy fight with Fury, in which he lost twice, delayed the match-up. Subsequently, Joshua also suffered his first loss against Ruiz, but Joshua won the rematch through unanimous decision.
