With a ninth-round stoppage, Oleksandr Usyk retained his heavyweight titles (WBA, WBO, IBF) against Daniel Dubois. Usyk dominated most of the fight, using his speed and agility to cause Dubois problems from the start. Oleksandr Usyk completely overwhelmed Dubois in most of the rounds, but Dubois put up an excellent fight.
Dubois landed a body shot on Usyk in the fifth round, sparking the main controversy of the fight. Furthermore, the referee deemed the punch a low blow, giving Usyk time to recover. Boxing fans, fighters, and experts gave their opinions about the matter. including Usyk’s former rival, Tony Bellew also chimed in. Bellew said, “Anything below the naval is classed as low in boxing! That’s not my opinion that’s a FACT! That’s the rules!”
Bellew also shared an image of Usyk and the sequence on social media. Furthermore, he stated that the boxer should not cover their navel with their shorts because it may result in hitting the belt. Subsequently, Bellew pointed out that the picture clearly showed Usyk’s navel above his shorts, indicating that it was a low blow. People pointed out that the image Bellew used as justification was from after the fight ended. Hence, Bellew’s point remains invalid for most fans.
Apparently, Usyk pulled his shorts down a bit after the fight ended because his navel wasn’t visible during the fight. Dubois and his team are attempting to convince the WBA to call the match a no-contest because they believe he was robbed.

Oleksandr Usyk once silenced Tony Bellew at a press conference

Before entering the heavyweight division and becoming the undisputed WBA, WBO, and IBF champion, Oleksandr Usyk competed in the cruiserweight division. Though Usyk won, people considered Tony Bellew to be the most formidable opponent in Usyk’s cruiserweight clashes.
Furthermore, before the build-up of the fight, Bellew initiated his war of words to get into Oleksandr Usyk’s head. However, the language barrier between the two made the attempt less effective, as Usyk required a translator for the press. At one instance, Bellew commented about his devastating KO punch, which Usyk doesn’t have.
Usyk’s hilarious answer silenced Bellew, which caused a wave of laughter amongst the audience. He said, “He is kidding,” which became a perfect response to Bellew. The simple two-word response completely and utterly silenced and stopped Bellew’s attempts to get into his head.
