Devin Haney relinquished all his titles in the lightweight division to move up to the super-lightweight division. Subsequently, Haney did that because he had already achieved everything in the lightweight division and wanted to move on. Furthermore, he took on Regis Prograis and defeated him to become the new WBC super lightweight champion. Despite Haney moving up a weight division, his feud with Gervonta Davis remains unfinished.
Haney and Gervonta Davis have beefed for several years, especially since they were in the same weight class. In addition, Davis could have gone after the vacant lightweight titles after Haney vacated them. However, Davis stated that he wasn’t interested in the titles and was after blood. Hence, Davis hinted that he wished to settle things with Haney rather than go after the titles he vacated. This is what Haney stated,

Hence, Haney stated that Davis was not interested in fighting and clearly avoided the super fight. Furthermore, Haney stated that Davis would have been building towards making the fight happen instead of trying to invalidate it.
Haney mentioned how that fight between him and Davis would be one of the biggest fights in the sport. However, Davis and his team always try to downplay the significance of the bout and are not interested in the fight at all is what Haney felt.
Regis Prograis admits that he underestimated Devin Haney
Prograis admitted that he underestimated his opponent’s power, Haney, during their recent fight. On Saturday night, the two fighters squared off at San Francisco’s Chase Center in Haney’s professional debut at 140 pounds. Subsequently, Haney performed well, dominating his opponent throughout all 12 rounds of the bout.
All three judges scored the fight 120-107 in Haney’s favor after he won every single round. Furthermore, Haney became the new WBC super lightweight champion and the two-division champion of the world. In addition, during the post-fight conference, Prograis commented on how he underestimated Haney and his punching power.
Ahead of the bout, Prograis had questioned Haney’s punching power by asking him the names of the opponents he had knocked out. However, Prograis got a first-hand experience of feeling Haney’s power after getting battered by him for 12 rounds. Furthermore, he admitted that Haney was better than he had expected and was not a soft puncher at all.
