The fighter has managed to amass a record of 30 wins and no losses in his career. However, Haney’s 30th victory was controversial and riled the fans.

The Vasiliy Lomachenko vs. Devin Haney was one of the most significant bouts of 2023. Both lightweight fighters engaged in warfare as the bout went the distance. The American fighter emerged victorious via a unanimous decision, earning him the 30th win of his career. However, most boxing fans disapproved of the decision of the fight. Despite having success in the earlier rounds, fans believed Lomachenko to have outpointed Haney in the later rounds.

Due to the controversial nature of the decision, Vasiliy Lomachenko decided to appeal the result. The Ukrainian fighter’s manager, Egis Klimas, shared the statement that was sent to the WBA committee on Twitter. Upon witnessing the statement, Devin Haney snapped on Twitter. He said, “This guy is a fucking sore loser. Get this privilege sore loser out of boxing he makes excuses as he goes! Take your lost like a man & stop crying.“

“It was set up for you to win for the 3rd time in your career & you failed! Tell the commission give me my 400k back for that push!” wrote Devin Haney. ‘The Dream‘ revealed that he had been charged $400k by the commission, which made him furious at Lomachenko. The chances of Lomachenko successfully appealing the fight decision remain unlikely. However, Loma and his team feel robbed by judges.

Devin Haney successfully defended his lightweight championship belt against Vasiliy Lomachenko. However, boxing fans disagreed with the decision. Lomachenko and his team decided to appeal the decision. The Ukrainian fighter’s manager appealed the decision and uploaded the statement on Twitter, which managed to enrage Devin Haney.

Egis Klimas, Vasiliy Lomachenko’s manager, wrote to the WBA committee. He wrote, “As Team Loma prepares an appeal of the decision, and in light of the highly controversial outcome of the bout, on behalf of Vasiliy Lomachenko, I ask that the WBA rate Loma as the #1 and recognize him as the mandatory contender for the title in the Lightweight Division.“

Vasiliy Lomachenko’s manager ended the appeal by writing, “Loma was denied his victory in the ring on Saturday, and he deserves the opportunity to be ranked #1 and to get another chance at realizing his goals as soon as possible.” Only time will tell if the boxing commission accepts the request of Lomachenko’s team.
