Devin Haney’s career has reached a great point, as the 25-year-old has already become a two-weight division champion, and now Haney has officially entered the pound-for-pound rankings. Haney was the undisputed champion at lightweight from 2022 to August 2023 and even defended his title against Vasily Lomachenko.

Subsequently, after achieving everything he could in the lightweight division, Haney decided to move up to the super-lightweight division. In his debut in the 140-pound division, Haney fought against Regis Prograis, who was the WBC super-lightweight champion.

However, Haney was quite confident and stated that he felt very good and strong at 140 pounds. Furthermore, Haney backed up his confidence by giving one of the best fights of his entire career.

While fighting, Haney was able to be dominant and aggressive, which was uncharacteristic of him because he normally remains defensive. Additionally, he was able to outperform and outskill Prograis inside the ring and won all 12 rounds of the bout.

Prograis, who had criticized Haney’s punching power, was humbled when he was knocked down in the third round.

Furthermore, Prograis broke the official record for the lowest number of punches thrown in a boxing match, which was held by Edwin De Los Santos. As such, Progaris threw a meager 36 punches across 12 rounds, while Haney landed 129 punches. In addition to becoming the new WBC super-lightweight champion, Haney has also reached the official pound-for-pound rankings.
